There are a lot more X3 reviews. A lot of them agree with how I feel about it. Then there are others who say, "YEAH! Action movie!" And I growl at them.

The script for Wolverine has been turned in. If you haven't seen The 25th Hour, I recommend it. The man who wrote that wrote this script, so I have strong hope.

And there is even /further/ backing away from the 'no more X-men movies' as Lauren Schuler Donner is like, "Oh sure, we planned to have 7, 8 and 9 like Star Wars. There are certainly enough comics." Yeah. Well. I'll hold my tongue on that for now. I'm upset Mrs. Donner. I loved your movies before now. They all had heart! *grumble*

They're planning on making a movie from Kung Fu, the David Carradine series. I have no idea who you could possibly cast in that role who wouldn't just pale in comparison.

Jon Favreau says not to expet Tony Stark to be anywhere near drunk in the first movie. He's starting before all of that. You know, I love comics and origin movies and all but honestly... Someone should just jump into the middle of someone's story.

Apparently NBC saw everyone else's schedules and completely changed theirs all around in reponse. Very funny.

McFarlane Toys announced they have the LOST license and will be releasing a series of LOST toys, hitting stores late Fall.

This is a line from the Salon review, that makes sense:

"In fact, the biggest problem with "The Last Stand" isn't that it lacks feeling; it's simply that it's too cluttered with characters -- characters that we'd like to see more of -- to have the emotional resonance it should. "

And Jim wants the Hatch playset for Christmas ;) and he also thinks that a Charlie figure should come with a small figure of the Virgin Mary :)

I'd agree with that. There isn't enough time for you to give a damn at all.

Sayid will be in the second set of figures, FYI.

The action figures can go with the imminent Lost videogames coming next year...

Hmm, yeah, I wonder who'd make a good wandering monk these days...

Maybe Stephen Chow? (I think that's his last name.) The guy from Kung-Fu Hustle?

Hmm, maybe. I've only seen him in KFH and Shaolin Soccer, so I don't know if he could play the Kwai Chang Caine character really well.

Eh. They're obviously looking for something else out of the movie than we are.

As a strictly DC fan (so no attachment whatsoever to the characters or storyline except that Jean Gray would HAVE to be buried at Bard's cementery damnit), would the problems you have bother me? IOW, are they of the "That character would NEVER do that" variety or the "Wow, there's a large plothole there" one?
From: [identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com
The problems for me are the movie is too fast. So big important things happen and no one seems to give a damn. And you don't really get a chance to give a damn anyway. They make some big decisions as movie makers and then back away from almost all of them by the end which felt like a cop out. This is a director who managed to hit all of the marks of Singer's style but deliver none of the heart.

It isn't really "The character would NEVER do that" stuff.

Ah ok.

Worth a trip to the Cinerama, esp if I bring Mel there? She likes things going boom and never has been there.

I would say it was worth a matinee. It is worth seeing. There are things that happen in the movie that are great but over all I don't think the movie holds together.

If she likes things that go boom, she'll be entertained. *grins*

There we go then. Since Yellowstone was cancelled, it'll be something to do this weekend.

I'll probably go see the X-Men movie even though I too am hesitant about it.

As for McFarlane toys, they could get the rights to every cool thing ever and I STILL wouldn't put another dime into that asshole's pocket. ;)

David Carradine? Really? Even as a kid I thought he was easily replaceable.

Maybe by someone who was like....Asian. Call me crazy (I know the studio executives thought it was crazy to cast Bruce Freaking Lee even though it was his damned idea).

No, I'm not bitter why do you ask?

No, no. I'm with you on that. Bruce Lee, someone Asian would have been better. But I really liked David Carradine and watching Kill Bill reminded me of that love.
