Interesting change of business strategies by Best Buy. I hope it doesn't turn around on them. (Check out the article in the Wall Street Journal.)

I have work to do. I should be doing it. Yes, indeed.

Mmmmm. Yeah.

Don't want to hear it. Do you know how busy I am?

How many titles am I appearing in these days?

You're a hero, Ollie. If you don't like it, stop doing it. Or drop one of the .... what is it... four you're in right now.

Do you think the writers would let me?

Let's see... Identity Crisis, Green Lantern, my own title... what else am I missing? It's hard to keep them all straight in my mind.

I might even need to get a dayplanner.

You might be in slightly more titles than I am at the moment, but you're doing the exact same thing in all of them. I'm working on resurrection. You all can shut it.

You're in JLA Elite, too, right? I'm not reading it but you've been on covers and such. Oh! And Rebirth. So that's five...

See what I mean? I can't even keep track of them all.

It's four, Ollie. Rebirth is the storyline in Green Lantern currently.

Look, if anything, you need to add a title. I'm thinking a miniseries called "Green Arrow: Republican Hunter." While John Ashcroft lives, there can be no justice!

That's a lovely idea, but I'm anti-death-penalty. Remember, I'm the guy who killed an assassin in self-defense and ran off to a monastary in guilt.

That, and we have a different president in our universe. I'd have to get the Flash to "run so fast he breaks the dimensional barriers" in order to take part in an assassination. I really don't think that would go over so well, especially during the whole "Identity Crisis" thing that's been going down...

That's an interesting idea.

I can DEFINATELY see it biting them in the ass, tho.

For instance, the Best By in Tacoma, I go there to look at movies, video games, and ocassionally TVs, digital cameras and surround sound setups.
A majority of the customers, however, are interested in the stereo systems (car or home) and they like to turn them up REALLY LOUD (to the point that I need to leave the store pretty quick or get a headache).

I can see them "focusing" the Tacoma store towards stereos and making it a place I'll never buy anythign ever again (because I'll refuse to walk in)

I can understand wanting to ditch those evil reselling people. I mean it is a way to make a living but it's a really /lame/ way to make a living. It will probably help to get rid of those people but ... well... while I do make the occassional big purchase at Best Buy, normally I just go in there to pick up DVDs since they're reasonably (read: cheaply) priced there.

It's an interesting strategy. I'll be interested in seeing how that works for them.

I can see wanting to get rid fo the reselling people and the people out to ruin them. That's fine.

BUT

Best Buy has the worst return policy already

Best Buy doesn't like to stand behind what they sell already

And I doubt I would ever buy anything but DVDs, video games, or MAYBE a digital camera from them ever. All of those, if they break it will be immediately, and I woudl just exchange it for a new item of the same type.

Resellers are merchants in the classical sense, they are fundamentally GOOD for consumers as they help bring us closer to a true, free market, economy. They take advantage of people taking advantage of imperfect information, helping to end the practice.

I guess they have to figure out whether the addtional profit from their best customrs, even annoying stereo customers, is worth the loss of bulk buying power. I can see the stores fracturing into essentially five different chains, losing the consistency of a large change. You can get te same burger at any McDonalds, but when someone in Massachusetts says "I got this at Best Buy" and I go into my local stor and can't find it, that's a negative in that store's image for me. On the other hand, McDonalds in Massachusetts serves lobster rolls, so even there localization is a virute.
