lithera: (Love you)

So, I left work and went to the doctor. I got to the building and walked in and felt a little better. It doesn't have that clinical feeling that most places have and that is one of the things that sets me off the most. I went up the the desk and got a clipboard full of papers to fill out. I had to sign lots of forms and say that I understand that UW is a teaching hospital and if they take anything from me they could use it for research or teaching. All to the good, I say. If I can help someone learn or make a discovery... Excellent.

I'm still filling out paperwork when they call me back and I get weighed. I've lost weight since the last time I was weighed. Not as much as I'd like to have lost but still, I've lost weight. The nurse took my blood pressure and I told her it was a little high. She said, "You stressed about something?" And I said, "Yeah, being here." She gave me an odd look that almost made me discount her lovely accent, which I couldn't place at all.

I sat in the room and finished fillout out paperwork and the doctor came in and said she was running a little late and that she'd be right back. We chatted a little and I told her I was nervous and she said she understood - her sister hates doctors.

It comes down to the fact that Dr. N. (I think she looks like a Nicole) Sandler and I get along well. She's about my age and was more than willing to listen to me and my horror stories "so I can never do what's been done to you". She was especially horrified by the doctor who insisted I was miscarrying. God, that was hell.

So, she gave me a bunch of perscriptions and I went on my merry way... after getting my anti-baby shot. We'll see how well this works for me. I've never tried Depo but the premise is appealing. I have to go back in a month for girly things and my teatnus booster. Yeah. I'm behind on my shots.

I got Flonase. Oh my God. I can breathe through my nose. I cannot tell you how amazing this is. I can breath through my nose and my sense of smell ... well... the world is a slightly different place. I got ointment for my eczema, which I can tell it working already since my skin feels different. I also got migraine medication that when I take it the first time, I have to take it in the presence of my doctor... just in case. (Apparently it could cause a heart attack.)

So.... I like my doctor. Things worked out well. Thanks again, Jane! It was good to go and good to meet a doctor I could really talk to.

Excellent news! By the way, every time I go to my OB/GYN my blood pressure's up. They just smile and nod like it's accepted that we'll be stressed.

Heh. Yeah. It was my first visit in a long, long time. I'm sure my blood pressure will be up a little next month when I go in, too. Still, things worked well.

I've heard good things about Depo, and Flonase is awesome stuff.

I've heard good things about Depo too but I have known some people who have had odd reactions to it. So far everything is just fine for me, though. I'll give it more time before I call the coast clear.

Flonase has made me down right chipper. I can breathe through my nose. It's amazing.

Good luck with the Depo. I wish I could take it... but it turns me into a psycho-loony-bitch.

I must say I love Flonase as well. Don't know how I could live without the stuff.

Heh. Well, there are birth control pills that do that to me, make me all crazy. I'm hoping this doesn't do that. So far so good but I want to give it at least a week before I really call it clear.

It's amazing. I'm just in awe of Flonase.

I didn't but I got something what is obviously working. If this stuff stops working I'll ask about it.

Flonase is great!

what kind of stuff did you get for your exzema? jim might want to know since he's got the same problem, and the stuff he's got right now doesn't work very well.

by the way, what's the plan for tonight?

It's an ointment. He can look at the tube when he comes over next. The name is rather long. Then there is the suggestion that Angel made of Elidel that works really well for her SO.

I'll call you about tonight. It'll be easier.

The migraine medicine is a lifesaver for my girlfriend.

Depo is, well, bad. To a greater or lesser degree, it absolutely kills your sex drive. Some people experience mood swings or depression on it, and some just have their mood deaden and become zombielike. I've heard (though it sounds a bit like urban myth) that some states give it to sex offenders to reduce their aggression and sex drive, which I'd believe after seeing the effect on my ex-girlfriend. Hope it works out better for you.

I'll see how it goes. So far there hasn't been much of a change but it has been only one day. I can always try something else if this doesn't work. I'm pretty sensative to mood swings and depression since I have them anyway and I should be able to pick that stuff out.

As for sex drive... well... We'll see. I've been single for long enough that it is mostly repressed with crazy spikes in it anyway.

that's true (depo to reduce sex drive in male sex offenders ) but my understanding is it's in much higher doses; I'm sure some women have trouble but also some women don't, any hormone is going to affect different people differently (I've never taken it but what I did take was hard on me in diferent ways)4

The sex-offender thing he's referring to is not Depo-Provera. If indeed it is not an urban myth, and sex offenders really are given estrogen shots, it doesn't deaden their sex drives because it has pernicious evil powers.

It reduces their sex drives because it's ESTROGEN. And because the people they're using it on, if they're using it, are MALE. As a side note, I doubt it's used much because giving estrogen to males tends to result in Fight Club-style bitch tits. You've seen 'em.

For my part, I haven't noticed a change in my sex drive before or after. What I have noticed is a great deal more personal freedom--I don't have to carry the pills around, and I don't have to remember to take one about the same time every day. Less anxiety overall. It's great.
