This has no importance in the real world at all.

So, I picke dup new X-men 150 because I wanted to see what Grant Morrison did in his conclusion to his stupid plot arc.

It really still feels like this man has year and years of hatred stored up for these characters and has been waiting for the chance to write them for years.

In this plot arc, he brought back Magneto, who he killed earlier. There are times when a character can be more effective dead than alive. Dead he inspired a whole generation of mutants that maybe, just maybe, he was right. That caused all sort sof ripples through the world.

Then, things go on and we find out that Magneto didn't die. Oh no. He escaped and had been hiding in the Xavier Mansion the entire time. He was just wearing a mask that protected him from telepathy. So no one suspected that the guy who was doing everything by gravity and magnetics was Magneto.

So, Magneto is on drugs this entire time and obliterates most of New York City. He starts killing humans wholesale... while on drugs. He defeats the X-men with ease and reshatters Charles' legs. (This is after Morrison healed them in the first place.)

Then Wolverine and Jean are thrown into the sun. Instead of letting them burn up, Logan guts Jean with his claws causing her to die and thus become all Phoenix-like. Okay, I can buy that... So.. That's Jean death three, right?

Jean flies them back to earth and they confront Magneto who is losing hold of his new generation of acoltyes because he's on drugs and he seems to have gone freaking loony toons at the same time. So, they're talking Mags down and trying to get him to back off. Scott stops being a pansy for a few moments and his powers work differently than they ever have before and then he chooses Jean over Emma. (Which took him like a year to do.)

Then Jean moves towards Magneto to comfort him or something and he kills her. (He essentially causes her to have a stroke.) Then Wolverine goes freaking crazy and kills Magneto by cutting off his head. Scott becomes a bigger wuss and Jean dies. Again.

So. In the end. All of Grant Morrison's writing has accumulated in not much at all - Jean's death, which is possibly the largest cliche in comic books. He killed Magneto and then brough him back and killed him again. Broke Scott and Jean up and then brought them back toghether again. Had Wolverine go nuts and back again....

*sigh* He'll be done soon. Thank goodness.

Claremont will move to Uncanny X-men. I'm not sure what will happen to X-treme, whether he'll continue writing it or not. They still haven't announced who will take over for Morrison. All I can say is trained monkeys could do better.

Thank you for sacrificing yourself that we might have the plot summary and know to stay FAR FAR AWAY.

Some people are saying that this is the best X-book writing in years. All I can say is, these are not the X-men as I know them. I have no problem with re-envisioning characters. There are, however, times when how you've chosen to change characters is just stupid. If you're going to kill someone, make it mean something and freaking /kill them/. Jean Grey's death (the first time) was a really big deal. She was an amazingly important character in comics and they killed her off.

Bringing her back took all the power of it away. Sacrifice can still be as important if you're going to come back but it has /never/ been handled that way for Jean.

All of the characters in X-treme are all acting very strangely, Rogue in specific. In Uncanny they re-wrote Nightcrawler's origins for no good reason at all...

Anyway. I'll stop now.

This, in a nutshell, is why I only read the Ultimate Series of anything anymore. I've even been slacking on that for a few months.

But for the sake of my childhood and all the love I had stored up for the old characters I remember, I would love to find Morrison and fuck his shit up.

The Ultimate series has grabbed me again with the introduction of Angel. There was a time when all there was on the page was words and I didn't care about any of it. I'd seen Mags and Charles argue all of this stuff before and just didn't have the heart to read it again.

I think I'll be picking up Ultimate again but... Man. I hope they get someone really good to repleace him. Some one who can write. Like JMS is doing for Spider-Man. Please.

I disliked the first storyline of Ultimate X-men - but then I disliked the writer in general. Last storyline they changed over to the same guy who has been writing U-Spidy (Bendis) and he's been good so far. The intro of Angel was really neat.

Flicked through X-men 150 on the stands. Put it back. But then, I gave up on mainstream X-books almost ten years ago...

I wasn't sure about Bendis at first but he's okay. I'm happy with him.

Of course, you see, I started reading X-men about 14 years ago.. so...

Honestly, I'll be happy as soon as Morrison goes away.

Amen, amen, amen! I don't know what the problem is. Grr! They should be letting *us* write X-Men!

Heh. I don't know if I could handle writing a comic book for a very long time but I would like to go in and fix some things.

I actually sort of have an image in my head of what I think would be an good issue but I don't have like five or six of them.

*Un*trained monkeys could do better. I really. Really. Want him to go away from the X-Men forever. :P

Yay for completely avoiding that degree of ASSNESS!!!

Scott needs to die period... they need to stop killing Jean off so her and Wolvie have lots have hot nookie and produce packs of psychic regenerative babies that will take over the world.

of course that will never happen. Say La Vee

I'll stick with Athena Inc.

WildCats is an interesting series at the moment. Grifter is recovering from having gotten beat and Zealot is in the process of taking out all of the other Coda.

She was never dead at all. She made everyone think she was dead so she could go around being all assasin-like, killing off the Coda, since they've become this moral-less assassin's guild.

moral-less ?

or

more or less?

Wow.. so are they like back together again..or is she still with spartan?

moral-less. I typed it correctly.

Well, they're as much back together as she is with anyone. He went looking for women that looked like her, she found him drunk in a bar, she slept with him and left to go undercover killing Coda.

I gave up on Marvel a few years back when Dr. Strange punched someone...

J. Micheal Strazinsky has been writing Dr. Strange really well in Amazing Spider-Man. In fact, that's really one of the very few Marvel titles I'd recommend right now.

Actually...

It didn't say who Scott chose. He said that he -had- chosen, but got interrupted before he could tell Emma who it was.

God.

This entire storyline is.. -so-.. out of character for pretty much everyone in it.

Then again, in Uncanny.. mm. Naked She-Hulk. Yum.

Well, the way he was talking to her, it really seemed like he hadn't chosen /her/. (Her being Emma.) Especially with the grief at the end.

His entire time writing has made me feel ill.
