I need to go over and check out tickets for SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) This year. They're showing Bubba Ho-Tep and the Animatrix. I might be interested in Tears of the Dragon too. So much good kung-fu action as well.. Hmmmmm.

Another review of The Matrix that isn't so glowing. There are little spoilers in there if you want to read it too.

The trailer for Freddy vs Jason will be around in time to be infront of The Matrix, but it isn't attached, so you may or may not get it.

The reviews coming in for Bad Boys 2 seem pretty satisfied. And I quote from a review: "BAD BOYS II is the ultimate achievement in empty spectacle; an unabashedly brainless thrill ride that cleverly announces its intentions with an opening credit montage of Ecstasy tablets rolling off an assembly line." -- You really need to read the review. It's pretty awesome.

Oh the horror - According to a source for Superhero Hype!, Thunderbirds director and Star Trek vet Jonathan Frakes may be on top of Warner Bros.' list to helm their new Superman movie.

There is a teaser for the Last Samurai, but the quality sucks and the picture is really small. I must see this movie.

Hollywood Reporter says Angel is coming back next year. We'll see next week.

Actually, Frakes is a decent director. I'd love to see where he goes with Superman.

He's okay. I don't think he's a great director, though. For the script they have to have any chance of being /any/ good, they're going to need an astounding director.

I think he has potential to be exceptional.

True, the current Superman script is +3h 5uxx0r without Orson Welles and Kevin Smith at the helm (being assisted by Steven Spielberg and Pre-Episode I George Lucas) ...

Before I give any sort of grade on him as a director, I'm going to have to see The Thunderbirds when it comes out next year. Thus far almost everything I've seen of his is Star Trek related and that doesn't give me a good feel of how he handles things.

A friend of mine, who is a fairly well known comic book writer, saw Matrix last night and said "the action sequences were amazing but the dialogue made Phantom Menace seem like Shakespeare." And this is after I said my ex really liked it.

Knowing both of these people and their tastes in film and quality and how they judge things - I'm now very worried...

Ooooh. *ponders* That's the main complaint I've heard, is that the dialogue takes itself too seriously. Most of the reviewers seem to come out of the second showing liking it more. Because they have their expectations in check? Because they know what's happeneing?

I don't know.

I need to see Bubba Ho-tep. I know one of the guys who worked on the film (he was my mother's favorite caregiver at her nursing home, and a really cool guy) and I've heard alot about the movie. Sounds like silly fun with a sharp social commentary edge about elderly care. And, you know, Bruce Cambell.

*nods* It's going to be a midnight movie. It sounds like it should be good fun. And, well, yeah, Bruce Cambell.
