For those who were wondering....
Jun. 7th, 2001 03:07 pmWhy a turtle?
Well, turtles are cute. I like turtles. I have always had a fondness for them.
For awhile my happy thought was a little turtle (imagine the cute little turtle) who would make mecha-robot noises when he walked. Go on think about it. It's great. Whhhhhirrr-chunk. Whhhhhhrrrr-chunk. Kind of like AT&AT walking noises.
Turtles do not climb things, thus, consequently, they cannot fall from great heights unless they are dropped. I do not want to be worrying about a kitten deciding to take a leap off of my balcony.
Turtles live in tanks. They do not need to go outside or be walked. Marvelous that.
I could be happy watching a turtle walk around in his tank for hours on end. I would move things around and change the terrain. I would feed him bits of hamburger and lettuce.
That is why a turtle.
I would like a kitten, but right now, I'd be araid to let it near windows or anything else even faintly related to a possible fall.

Date: 2001-06-07 04:32 pm (UTC)It's true. Puffer fish, especially in captivity, are perfectly capable of--and on occasion not smart enough to refrain from--puffing themselves to death. It's not something you want to see.
Actually...
Date: 2001-06-07 05:14 pm (UTC)They have a collapsable rib cage.
All of my cats have made "the leap" When i lived in apts.
Scared me but I was relieved that they are made special.

Turtles RULE!
When I was in Japan I was amazed at the variety of turtles they had.. ones with long noses, ones that looked like they were made from leaves.. They are neat.
Plus, you can pick them up and play with them.. even if they aren't energenic. That's something you can't do with a fish.
So, would ya name it after one of the TMNT's?
