Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...
In April look for Disney to release a Hayao Miyazaki Collection 1 on DVD. At the moment it looks like a set of Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service. As planned at the moment it will be a two disk set for each movie... Who over at Disney woke up? I mean, seriously? Wow.
There are names being bandied about for Superman. They all make me twitch. Apparently /that/ script is too expensive so they're rewriting it for that reason at the very least.
They're trying to turn Man in the High Castle into a movie. Another Philip K. Dick movie.. They've all worked really well so far, but I haven't read this story, so I have no idea how it might work. Looks like alternative history where the Axis won the war and the US is jointly occupied bu Japan and Germany. I think I need to read this book....
Freddy vs Jason trailer on the 31st. It will be coming out with (no surprise) Final Destination 2. There will be tons of ads for movies this summer during the Super Bowl. I'll watch the game just for those. The Hulk and Matrix ads alone will be worth it.
Access Hollywood said Thomas Jane is rumored to have been offered the Punisher and Kurt Russell has been offered the role of Tombstone, in the "Punisher" movie. Huh. That's some star power for 'low budget' comic movie. Okay, so neither one is exactly Brad Pitt in drawing power, but Kurt Russell in a comic book movie? I'm there.
The MTV Animated Spider-man is set for this Spring... Finally. Some sort of date on that.
They're really pulling Static Shock into the DC animated world. There will be Justice League tie ins and Superman tie ins along with the Batman appearance in the premiere.
DC Comics is collecting Batman #608-609 - the first two issues in the "Hush" story by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams - in Batman Double Feature, arriving in stores on Feb. 12. The 48-page one-shot features a new cover by Lee and Williams as well as the covers to the first printings of Batman #608 and 609.

Date: 2003-01-14 01:36 pm (UTC)I am so glad I got the Chinese Ghibli set. The English subtitles suck, but NO SUBTITLES is a thing of horror and evil. Fuckin' nonoptional dubs.
In case this offers some glimmer of hope, the Totoro release was by Fox and not Disney. Maybe since we've successfully yelled at them about subtitles for Mononoke Hime they'll remember...
