Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

In April look for Disney to release a Hayao Miyazaki Collection 1 on DVD. At the moment it looks like a set of Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service. As planned at the moment it will be a two disk set for each movie... Who over at Disney woke up? I mean, seriously? Wow.

There are names being bandied about for Superman. They all make me twitch. Apparently /that/ script is too expensive so they're rewriting it for that reason at the very least.

They're trying to turn Man in the High Castle into a movie. Another Philip K. Dick movie.. They've all worked really well so far, but I haven't read this story, so I have no idea how it might work. Looks like alternative history where the Axis won the war and the US is jointly occupied bu Japan and Germany. I think I need to read this book....

Freddy vs Jason trailer on the 31st. It will be coming out with (no surprise) Final Destination 2. There will be tons of ads for movies this summer during the Super Bowl. I'll watch the game just for those. The Hulk and Matrix ads alone will be worth it.

Access Hollywood said Thomas Jane is rumored to have been offered the Punisher and Kurt Russell has been offered the role of Tombstone, in the "Punisher" movie. Huh. That's some star power for 'low budget' comic movie. Okay, so neither one is exactly Brad Pitt in drawing power, but Kurt Russell in a comic book movie? I'm there.

The MTV Animated Spider-man is set for this Spring... Finally. Some sort of date on that.

They're really pulling Static Shock into the DC animated world. There will be Justice League tie ins and Superman tie ins along with the Batman appearance in the premiere.

DC Comics is collecting Batman #608-609 - the first two issues in the "Hush" story by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams - in Batman Double Feature, arriving in stores on Feb. 12. The 48-page one-shot features a new cover by Lee and Williams as well as the covers to the first printings of Batman #608 and 609.

Personally, I have two things to say about this post:

First: We should start a Sauron fan-club. Or perhaps a fan-club for his master???

Second: I think Kurt Russel would make a great Punisher himself. Maybe it's that whole "escape from" or maybe it's the "big trouble in little china" connection, but he would be a great choice, IMO.

Ah, well.

His master?

I agree with you. I think Kurt Russell would be a pretty bad ass Punisher. I'd be all for that. I'd definately go see it then.

Sauron's Master - See: expanded Tolkien works such as Companion to LotR, or The Simarillion.

If only we were movie execs, it would be so much easier.

Ahhhh... It's been a long time since I've read The Silmarillion and I've never read the Companion.

No kidding. I'd start with a big BOOT TO THE HEAD for the Superman people.

Ia! Ia! Melkor Morgoth! Greatest of the Ainur, he ruled the world from Angband.

When the stars are right, he shall destroy the Doors of Night and return from the Outer Dark.

Thank you for the name, as I couldn't remember it offhand.

Will the DVDs come with Japanese language tracks and English subtitles? Because the just-released Totoro DVD is dubbed and only dubbed.

There isn't much in the way of details on it yet. I'm guessing if Disney is going to the lengths of putting out two discs for each movie, I would hope so.

I'll let you know more when I find out more.

Oh god no.

I am so glad I got the Chinese Ghibli set. The English subtitles suck, but NO SUBTITLES is a thing of horror and evil. Fuckin' nonoptional dubs.

In case this offers some glimmer of hope, the Totoro release was by Fox and not Disney. Maybe since we've successfully yelled at them about subtitles for Mononoke Hime they'll remember...

I have a copy of Man in the High Castle. It's either on my book shelves or mom's at the house. If you want to borrow, feel free just give mum a call.

    Man in the High Castle
is quite a good book. It would make a low-key noirish slightly trippy movie. The main character is an antique dealer ripping off the rich Japanese overlords with replica guns. But then it starts mixing his reality with ours...

He's been in a minor role in a lot of good movies. I've seen a whole bunch of those movies.

Well hopefully they will come with subtitles cause having things only in dub sucks ass. Though some things in dub aren't as bad than other things. It all depends on who's doing the dubbing. I mean lets face it Dic and whoever they changed to does a very piss poor job at dubbing that leaves the veiwer going I could of probably done a better job. Where any other company does a little bit better to damn it's pretty close to what they would be saying in japanese.
