I love this book. It has pulled me into it and I really, really want to finish reading it, but I cannot here at work. Maybe I will take one of my breaks later and go sit in the courtyard and read.
It is based on an old myth, but it took me a while into the book to recognize which one it was. Even now, I am still not certain of who everyone is. Though, all of the important characters are easily seen.
I recommend this book highly and I know, from where we are in the story, that there will have to be at least one more. We haven't gotten to the part where everything falls apart - though we're close.

Date: 2003-01-06 03:41 pm (UTC)I just finished it (it's slow here today) and I must say that I enjoyed it greatly and am looking forward to picking up the next one. The best perk of my job is getting to pick up free books after the reviewers are done with them. I have found a few authors who I will pick up whenever I see them this way.
I noticed you also had Xenophon listed in your interests. That's a rare thing.

Date: 2003-01-07 08:29 am (UTC)Well, he needn't be popular at all. I just wish more people knew of him.
