Well, it seems that I am in concordence with my horoscope for once. They all seems to be saying that I should expand my social circle and include new people. I think I've been trying to do that. I've renewed friendships that were left behind in the dust of time and I've found some new people. All in all its pretty cool.
I think I need to spend more time with Julz and Tina in specific. It occured to me last night, not for the first time, that I really am friends with more men than I am women. I found myself cooking for a room full of guys last night. Some part of me found this extremely amusing. ..... But that leads me to want female companionship for the first time in awhile. I've always been better friends with guys than girls. I think that's because we had similar interests. I like comic books and video games and role-playing and the beating each other with sticks often also called "sparring".
It is good to find more girls who like some of the same things I do. It is very good.
I remember after my first D&D session in high school how all the guys looked at me afterwards in shock. One in specific commented, "You know, these girls are cool. We need to find some more of these." That was the begining of a wonderful friendship.
I'm doing a lot of this cooking thing recently, too. Pot roast, spaghetti squash... I think I'm going to do fajitas and guacamole sometime soon. Maybe not this evening, but soon.
Talked a lot to Julz this morning. It was a good conversation. It made me sorry to go into work. One of these days I just want to hang out and chat. That would be great.
Movies I want to see:
A Knight's Tale - Cheeze or not, it's got jousting and great costumes from the look of it. The sets look good too.
Shreck - Twisted Fairy Tale.
I must get warmed up for the summer movie season.

Date: 2001-04-20 09:30 am (UTC)There has to be some sort of social dynamic that this fits in. I know it isn't true that all women have mostly male friends or the other way around. I wonder why that is in this situation.
Is it because of the group we're in? There are less females to start with? Is it because guys are easy to understand as friends? Is it because of something else?
Hmmmmm...

Date: 2001-04-20 09:55 am (UTC)It has been my experience..
Date: 2001-04-20 11:09 am (UTC)They are much nicer to men because the whole point of being competitive is winning a man. Hence why men have lots of female friends.
There are women who aren't catty, false, and back-stabbing.. and they tend to like guyish things, like comic books, gaming, video games, cars, and other stuff. They tend not to be able to be friends with women that aren't because they don't put up with the bullshit factor.
Then you find one or two other girls who like comic books, cars, and gaming.. and we're rare as hell.. but worth being friends with, IMHO.
Not that I've put much thought into this..
