Please do the research.

It is NOT a mosque. It is a community center. There is a house of Muslim worship 4 or 5 blocks from the WTC and has been since 1970.

I'm not going to go on a rant here about this. I just ask people to find out more about this instead of blindly reacting to it and please, please remember that this country was created by people seeking religious freedom. It hurts me to see one of the pillars of the founding of the country attacked like this out of fear and ignorance.

You don't disprove or discredit extremists by reacting in kind. You only justify their actions in the eyes of those who may have not believed them.

I think it is the greatest tragedy is that it is 9 years LATER and there is still nothing there other than a hole in the ground. It is almost as if we're keeping this from being a monument just to keep it an open wound for this country and that, that is what we should be protesting.

So what if it WAS a mosque?
Or church
or temple to zeus
shouldn't f'ing matter if it's a temple to the Flying Spaghetti Monster whose worshipers preach the second coming of the marinara, you can't say shit about it because of the right of religious freedom.
Kinda like the freedom of speech - even if you don't like what someone else is saying, they still have a right to say it... even white supremacist dickheads.

Oh, I agree with you entirely. I just wish people actually took the time to learn something about what they were talking about in the first place.

Learn? About something? You must be joking? *cue ROFL* ;)

I don't know if you know, but Bloomberg has gotten mightily peeved at holdups for constructing some sort of memorial. Apparently, there are a lot of agencies and a lot of red tape involved, and no one's been able to slice though it yet.

Yeah. I appreciate that there are a lot of people angry about it but I just think that is the thing that deserves ire. Why are there hold ups? I mean, we broke ground on that 4 years ago or something... *mutter*

Here's the piece where I heard about the red tape. There are some links within.

research is hard and overrated... because very few people that will just blindly listen to you will believe the researched facts of the matter anyway.

Sigh.

I am tired of 'debate' in this country coming down to who can yell louder.
