It is NOT a mosque. It is a community center. There is a house of Muslim worship 4 or 5 blocks from the WTC and has been since 1970.
I'm not going to go on a rant here about this. I just ask people to find out more about this instead of blindly reacting to it and please, please remember that this country was created by people seeking religious freedom. It hurts me to see one of the pillars of the founding of the country attacked like this out of fear and ignorance.
You don't disprove or discredit extremists by reacting in kind. You only justify their actions in the eyes of those who may have not believed them.
I think it is the greatest tragedy is that it is 9 years LATER and there is still nothing there other than a hole in the ground. It is almost as if we're keeping this from being a monument just to keep it an open wound for this country and that, that is what we should be protesting.
