Constantin Film has hired Soenke Wortmann to direct the big screen adaptation of Donna Woolfolk Cross' 1997 medieval bestseller Pope Joan, after sacking helmer Volker Schloendorff last month, says Variety.

Sounds like it'll be a decent movie at least. I hope they have really, really ostentatious costumes and lots of dabbings of oil and ring-kissing, that's what Catholicism is for.
