That's what just happened outside my window.

Everyone out there is okay. It just re-enforces my idea that you shouldn't try to drive around that traffic circle at odd times of the night. Apparently no one can handle it.

It is okay that it happened, though. I was already up. I was up because I'd just had a very vivid dream about aliens where I'd died.

It was a very sad dream.

I think it is an indicator that I did too much with comic books this weekend. (I resorted everything.) I have a vivid imagination.

The planet I was on had a black sky. It actually looked a lot like I'd imagine living on the moon would be like, except it was bigger than our moon at the very least. We had a nice little city that we'd managed to build out of white stone. The whole place had a very curved but yet ancient look to it. Think Ancient Greece but smoothed out some more.

Anyway, the aliens showed up and nuked us. Just one nuke, though, so there was time to react to that. They didn't seem very aggressive, other than that, I mean, they didn't back it up with like... a thousand more or anything. Just the one. (In fact when they even show up in person, they don't do anything outright agressive.)

As always with these dreams, I know when to turn my head and look away. The explosion happens and I am among the survivors. We don't really have any weapons to fight back with, so we have to make some. We choose the standard sci-fi fare of germs. We make this orangey play-doh substance full of our germs put it in little capsules and spread it everywhere. We figure out that they can't be within so many feet of one of those things, so everything is all good.

They beam down some of them in containment suits. Apparently, they only have them in limited numbers since only like ten come down. Strangely, my friends and I (Of which there were three and I don't think they were anyone outside of the dream in specific.) just avoid them for awhile and they leave.

And then, there is another nuke. I know to turn away and I can warn the person I'm with. We wrap around each other and can feel something wash passed us. Still, we're all alive after, even still. There are some people even outside the car we were sitting in who were not so fortunate. (And yes, I know it doesn't work that way. I'm not sure why they work that way in my derams but they do.)

Things continue on in this fashion for quite some time. We end up building a center for science, knowing that we're running out of options and time. People ferry up to the science center and down. I'm not sure why it was in space but it was very beautiful. It was black with calm blue lights on it. The ferry of people up and down from it, a beautiful craft of its own right, gets shot down and everyone dies.

At this point, we know we're living on borrowed time. In fact, I'm putting away my groceries when I somehow know that things are ending. I slip on a pair of sandals I hate (because it won't matter one way or another in a few minutes) and head outside. I can't find my friends and I'm sad about that but there are a bunch of people there. As I'm walking out, the train pulls up (and my brain pulled this almost directly from V for Vendetta) and that's how they're delivering the explosives. I turn to the woman in this outdoor courtyard area nearest to me and extend my hands to her. Everyone around me is making some sort of similar gesture. We hold hands and there is a wash of light. (It feels that these people in the courtyard might somehow have been more than people. Maybe angels...)

And then the woman nudges me a little and tells me to open my eyes and turn around. And I do. And there, the train doors are open and inside it are my friends, sitting down, about to enjoy a lovely lunch. I scamper onto the train and sit down into the booth with them, overjoyed to have found them. We start talking, lunch is served and the train starts away from the station and everything fades to black as it heads into a tunnel.

End Dream.

So, yeah. I'm not going back to sleep. At least probably not in any meaningful way before work. I only have about two hours at this point anyway...

I was just there talking to the owner of the truck. Did you see anything?

Nope. Didn't see anything. Took me a bit to get out of bed to go take a look. The cops were there just a minute or two after I was.
