- Stop feeling bad when people let me down. And I mean that in the way that when people let me down I typically turn it around and feel as though some how my planning or situation or something about me wasn't enough for them to do whatever it is that I wanted to do or wanted them to do. And it /might/ be true but usually my planning (the serious plans) are pretty solid.
- Get eyes checked. New glasses and contacts
- Get tickets to San Diego. Anyone else going to Comic Con?
- Return to walking to work. Having a really hard time getting up early enough for this in the morning.
- Find a dentist. Really need to stop putting this off.
- Get my comics.
- Learn to relax and enjoy my little crushes as they happen. They're fun and I shouldn't worry or anything about them.

There are rumors out there (and they're nothing more than that but I love this one so, I'm passing it on) that after 52 is over (So, like a year) that Greg Rucka is interested in doing a Question comic. I would so buy that.

And, I think that is all for me. Work needs to be done.

my dentist is pretty good and is right in the Pike's Place Market, so it's not too far from your work.

How did I know you were going to be my dentist fairy? I was totally thinking you'd be first on that one.

I'm sorry if I've let you down. I excel at it. :/

Go get your teeth taken care of. It's important.

It isn't you, sweetie. I just realize that I've been doing a lot of turning that sort of thing around. Hell, there is a lot of people saying 'no' for perfectly valid, no harm intended reasons and I still try to figure out what it was that I did wrong. Normally the answer is nothing.

Yeah. I hate dentists. They cause me pain. And I'm still sort of residually freaked out by them.

Well, I understand the feeling of blaming oneself for what others are doing.

I wish I could go to ComicCon. I'd planned to. No money. Maybe next year. :/

Find a dentist that'll put you under while working on your mouth.

I don't know if that freaks me out more or not. *chuckles* It is a good idea, of course.

It's what I plan on doing next time I go to the dentist. I hate hate hate the feeling of the novocaine injection, and it always makes my eyes tear up.

Date: 2006-05-17 06:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com
I don't mind the novocaine.. I just did some stupid things when I was younger and have had some extensive dnetal work. It hurt a lot and the pain still ghosts along my nerves some times. Of course, I'm the sort of person who hates having those sorts of reponses. So, I'll go in and tackle them because I'm obstinant.

Storytime!

Unanesthetized oral surgery sucks ass. That portion of my memory is inaccessible.

Well, I was very much into monkeying around on bars. I did a drop off of one of them and smacked my face straight into a bar.

One of my front teeth cracked in half and fell out. There was a lot of blood. And then I got to the dentist office and they shoved the root back in. And I can't remember if I screamed or not but I know it hurt more than anything else I'd ever experienced.

And then I had months of dental work to repair. Root canals and cosmetic stuff and... Yeah.

No fun.

*shakes off weird twitchy feeling*

Gah! I get that weird feeling when I try to access the memories I mentioned, but it's nearly overwhelmed by the accompanying nausea. Mine was surgery required after a root canal because the dentist didn't see the third root that only 1% of the population have; it was behind the other two roots on the x-rays. He root-canaled two roots, and the third abcessed. Dude had to cut through the gums to get the abcess out.

Now I'll back off of that part of my brain.

*twitches with you*

Dude. I totally know how that it. I ... Yeah. AUGH!

That strange feeling or remembered pain... Ugh.

I'm sorry that happened.

Does your brain try to do that thing where it maps the memory of that really bad pain to something else? The closest I can get to remembering that sensation is "burning" even though there was no fire involved.

Date: 2006-05-17 06:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com
Sort of.

It's more I get this weird nervous feeling and my nerves fire. I have a fight or flight reaction but it is minor enough that I can clamp down on it. I just feel an intense feeling of wanting to 'get out of here now'.

Yes.. I never had a problem with it playing.

I would totally buy the Question comic. We must tell Greg this. Positive feedback might help turn rumor into fact.

Yes, relax and enjoy the crushes - even the ones that you KNOW won't go anywhere. It's kind of fun. And if you don't have that kind of absolute foreknowledge - so much the better. Heck,, I'm sure you know about several of my "go-nowhere" crushes, and they've all been enjoyable in the post-Prairie era, now that I'm more relaxed about it.

Kyna will probably get back into nagging me about the dentist soon. I've put off finding one far too long. Might just do the Pike Place one Kevin posted about - having a viable website is a good sign in my mind, even if I know that has little to do with dentistry itself.

Must grab lunch soon. Google's presentation on their new web development framework is coming up soon, and I intend to get a good seat.

I'd recommend my dentist but the downside is he's in Issaquah. He's a bit of a techhound and he has a nice staff which is, in many ways, more important than the dentist himself.

I think most of us have had dental fears at some point and even my dentist has stated he doesnt' 'enjoy' going to the dentist himself but the new stuff they are using makes it a pretty painless process. Plus, many of them let you watch tv with their funky tv goggles while they work on you.

Anyway, you can check out his website at:

Huh. That's cool.

Issaquah is pretty far out there, tough.

True enough. Convenience is a big deal for going to the dentist. Going to the dentist is one of those things where it is very easy for people to find a reason not to do it. Nobody wants to go so excuses leap to mind really easily.

With that said, I live in Monroe and go to this guy. If you want though, I can always fire an email off to him and have him recommend some dentists in your neck of the woods. You wouldn't have to deal with him at all and I can relay the message.

That would be really nice of you. I have two recomendations but having more is never a bad thing.

Where is your target area? Downtown? Capitol Hill? There are probably a ton of choices in the medical dental building near Westlake. Just let me know and I'll ask.

Downtown or Capitol Hill are both fine since I live on the hill and have to go through downtown to and from work.
