The last trailer for X3 comes out today. It will be on with 24, not that I watch 24. It will be on the Apple site not too much after that.

I want this movie to be good but I am expecting it to just suck. There is a Magneto prequel, a Wolverine solo movie (script on the second draft) and possibly a New Mutants ('a movie focusing on the younger mutants' is the quote) movie in the cards.

But... But! I remember how I didn't breathe through the first few minutes of the second one because they'd gotten Ngihtcrawler right. How he moved and looked and... They made me /like/ Jean and Scott. The two X-characters I just never cared about at all. I think most anything would be disappointing after that but man....

Yes. Yes, that is exactly where I am. It's all the worse because the first two were so good, and I had such low expectations for the first one. This is going to be so bad, and it's just going to crush me. Like a bug. Squish.

This I have more faith in, just because I've heard Hugh Jackman won't do anything they screw Wolvie up in. *Please please please god make that be true*

And they didn't just get Nightcrawler *right*. I swear I completely forgot I was watching special effects. I *believed*. I mean, they had me at hello with X1 when Wolvie popped claw in the bar, but it was Nightcrawler that I just...totally...*believed*.

And ditto for Scott and Jean. My least favorite characters, and--the thing that really got me was that my biggest whine about X1 (besides changing Cody's name, because WTF was that about?!) was that Jean seemed so ... reserved. She didn't have any of the powerhouse that I thought she should, even given that before the Phoenix Saga she wasn't as mega-powerful/showy as she is these days. But Xavier's line at the end of the *second* movie, about how Jean'd always felt like she hadn't quite belonged and like she'd been left behind somehow, really resonated for me. It actually *improved* the first movie, and that just never happens.

So there's almost no way they're not going to blow it with X3. And I deduced the "some people shouldn't die" spoiler thanks to a conversation with my husband, and you are *so* right. I'm hoping there's going to be some kind of ... fix.

Yeah. Some people shouldn't die and there are more than one of them who do. I can almost deal with one but... Man.

Well, I have yet to hear anything bad about the Wolvie movie. Jackman is producing and David Benioff (25th Hour) is writing the script, so it sounds promising to me. Wait and see, I guess.

I bought Nightcrawler. I so bought him. The BAMF and the dark blue and the smirking and the hey now. YES.

And then they made him a cutter. :P Priestly Angst-Kurt I can get, but they lost me when he started carving himself.

...I am genuinely not trying to start an argument here, but did you really see that as 'cutting'? Wow. Because I saw it as being like tribal scarring or tattooing. Religious marking to bring him closer to God. Wow. Talk about different interpretations!
