I R SMRT!

You Passed 8th Grade Math

Congratulations, you got 10/10 correct!

Seriously, though, that sort of felt good to stretch my brain in that direction to remember that I could. Not that it was too much of a stretch.

I also got 10/10.

Of course, I'm currently taking a "Math for Elementary Teachers" class, so a lot of this was pretty fresh in my brain.

If that was a representative sample of 8th grade math I am very much afraid, nothing there should be a challenge to a 6th grader, at least not in multiple choice form. That said, it reminds me of 5th grade, except for the stats question.

What math were you doing in the 5th grade? I didn't get to anything with Algebra sorts of things until... 7th.

Only a few of the questions required knowledge of algebra. The multiple choice nature of them turned them into substitute and grind problems of relatively simple arithmatic. Sure, it's faster to do the algebra, but only problems 3 and 9 require even a rudimentary knowledge of algebra. I don't know about the rest of you, but I distinctly remember covering sequential arithmatic and substitutions late 4th grade.

I should check out the EALRs for Washington State, see what the grade we should be expecting kids to know this stuff.
