.... Damn...
Aug. 31st, 2005 08:22 amWell, I remember my lunch this morning. That's a good thing.
I keep hearing comparisons between the hurricane and the tsunami. They're both natural phenomenon, sure, I'll give you that but... We saw the hurricane coming, guys. Sure, we didn't have the plans in place to make sure everyone got out of the way but we did see it coming. Imagine if we hadn't, okay? Then they might really have been comparable.
All that aside, I'm more inspired, for some reason, to ditch work and go down there to help. Even though I'm not entirely certain what I'd do. I'm more inspired to go and help than I was for 9/11 but after 9/11... I don't know. I just didn't really think there was much that could be done... at all.
Enough of that. I got enough sleep last night. I remember my lunch this morning. I'd locked the door behind me already but I remembered it.
This weekend I'll be looking for shoes so I can start walking to work. I'll be donating blood. I'll be donating money to the Red Cross. I'll be doing a few other things as well. A lot of my weekend is a bit up in the air still. Waiting for people to get back to me.
In case things fall through, who isn't doing anything tomorrow night and could get downtown around 4 or 5? Oh, and this person should probably have seen Firefly. It'd likely be a good thing.
Walking two miles once I get my shoes. Two miles, no reading... I'm going to have to dig out my CD player, where ever I put it. I'd like to get an MP3 player but the things are freaking expensive. (Or out of my current budget capabilities, at least.)
And... That's it for today. Anyone want to go give blood with me? It's always better when I go with someone in case I have one of those weird days. (I won't elaborate here but .... I've had some bad experiences with giving blood.)

As for donating blood, I usually do it here @ work in the bloodmobile. It's easy peasy for me that way.

Date: 2005-08-31 04:23 pm (UTC)I am available for bloodletting on Friday, I think Tim could probably make it, although I just realized we've been together like 4 years and I don't know how he feels about donating blood. They often turn me away (anemic) but I could be there for you in case you need help.

Date: 2005-08-31 09:40 pm (UTC)NOLA can rebuild but it will be up to 4 months for everything to be restored. Especially because they haven't yet stopped the flooding from the broken levies. *makes a face*
But yeah... you don't see earthquakes coming, you know?
