Well, I remember my lunch this morning. That's a good thing.

I keep hearing comparisons between the hurricane and the tsunami. They're both natural phenomenon, sure, I'll give you that but... We saw the hurricane coming, guys. Sure, we didn't have the plans in place to make sure everyone got out of the way but we did see it coming. Imagine if we hadn't, okay? Then they might really have been comparable.

All that aside, I'm more inspired, for some reason, to ditch work and go down there to help. Even though I'm not entirely certain what I'd do. I'm more inspired to go and help than I was for 9/11 but after 9/11... I don't know. I just didn't really think there was much that could be done... at all.

Enough of that. I got enough sleep last night. I remember my lunch this morning. I'd locked the door behind me already but I remembered it.

This weekend I'll be looking for shoes so I can start walking to work. I'll be donating blood. I'll be donating money to the Red Cross. I'll be doing a few other things as well. A lot of my weekend is a bit up in the air still. Waiting for people to get back to me.

In case things fall through, who isn't doing anything tomorrow night and could get downtown around 4 or 5? Oh, and this person should probably have seen Firefly. It'd likely be a good thing.

Walking two miles once I get my shoes. Two miles, no reading... I'm going to have to dig out my CD player, where ever I put it. I'd like to get an MP3 player but the things are freaking expensive. (Or out of my current budget capabilities, at least.)

And... That's it for today. Anyone want to go give blood with me? It's always better when I go with someone in case I have one of those weird days. (I won't elaborate here but .... I've had some bad experiences with giving blood.)

I can understand your want to go help, but I imagine I would be getting in someone's way at this point.

Is there another Serenity thing goin down?

As for donating blood, I usually do it here @ work in the bloodmobile. It's easy peasy for me that way.

I have the ability to get a pass to a screening of the fully finished movie. There will be a psychotic line, however and I'm not going to be able to get off work as early as someone would have to be there.

*nods* I would send Leigh, but she doesn't really have ability to go stand in line @ 4.

That, and this next week is kinda tight, even gas $$ wise. :-P

Yeah.

I hear that. I really do.

Yeah. I think right now I'd sort of be in the way but... I want to go help. I love that place.

And yeah, it's tempting to go and try to help regardless.

Thankfully, my only friend near NO let me know he's fine. He has no power and wont for the near future but he's ok.

I am available for bloodletting on Friday, I think Tim could probably make it, although I just realized we've been together like 4 years and I don't know how he feels about donating blood. They often turn me away (anemic) but I could be there for you in case you need help.

That would be cool. I'll see if I can get anything going for Friday after work. Where would you be able to get?

Don't want to ask you to go too far afield, you know?

Likewise, I've been thinking of looking into volunteer organizations going down there.

There was someone from Alabama... the governer, I think? who stated that this hurricane was "our tsunami". It disturbed me, mainly because like you said, we saw this one coming. And secondly, because we're talking a difference in casualties of hundreds of thousands of people. And I can bet that it'll be easier for NOLA to rebuild.

There are some similarities but the comparison, for the most part, really pisses me off.

NOLA can rebuild but it will be up to 4 months for everything to be restored. Especially because they haven't yet stopped the flooding from the broken levies. *makes a face*

But yeah... you don't see earthquakes coming, you know?
