So, I think this is worth pointing out. I would have done so earlier had I realized it had gone live. The selection is a little slim but it'll get there.

Also, what do you all think of the picture of the new Superman? As Clark he looks a hell of a lot like Christopher Reeve. Enough so that it is ... well.. almost creepy.

Honestly? He's not broad enough. He's pretty jacked, but he doesn't look... "super".

And the colors are disturbing. The blue is too intense to be paired with that burgundy cape. And what's with this scaled fabric people are using these days? Spiderman, it makes sense for. Kinda webby. But for Supes?

Widen the neck and broaden the top of the cape across his shoulders, rather than have a narrow tail coming out of his neck. That's my opinion.

And I have to remember to check that Swamp Thing thing about Poison Ivy's college. Dammit.

He looks like Christopher Reeve did, though and the plot is that he left after Superman II and is coming back. Reeve was a little roader in the shoulders but not a hell of a lot.

Yeah. The texture of the fabric bothers me but I liked the darker red. The bright, bright red has always kind of bugged me a little bit but then I lean toward darker colors, myself.

Yeah. I've seen that image. There was another one I saw from further away that was just seriously creepy in how much it made him look like Reeve.

I think he looks more like Reeve in some pictures than others. They're apparently bluing his eyes for the movie (donno if it's with contacts or what), which I'm very glad for, because Dammit, Superman Should Have Blue Eyes, even if Dean Cain's really cute. I actually think Routh looks *less* like Reeve in the deliberately staged promo shots like the one linked here than in some of the quicker captures.

Y'know, I haven't seen the Reeve Superman movies. Should I before this one comes out?

You should see the first one and the second one. After that... they're not worth the time, really. And you should glory in the amazingness that is the John Williams soundtrack. I really think it is his best work.

We've been watching Smallville on DVD, and the first ep where Christopher Reeve guest starred had a slightly modified version of Williams' Superman theme as the background music. I, of course, had no idea, but Ted actually got goosebumps. :)

And, okay. I'll watch the first two Superman movies. I actually have quite a lot of faith in this new one being good, because Bryan Singer's a comic book geek. But I don't know anything about the movies, so. :)

My major problem is with the S on his chest. It looks way too small to me and brings out the blueness of his shirt in a not-good way. Muting the red while keeping the blue bright also doesn't make sense to me.

Overall its... okay, I guess. I understand why but it looks kinda old-fashioned, I really can't picture how its going to work in a modern movie. Routh looks okay, a little too young, a little too slim, but he'll do. As long as he can act!
