Well, everyone at the kendo place is super nice. I don't think I've falt that comfortable trying something new in awhile. A long while. People came over and made sure that I know how to count in Japanese and made sure that I knew the basics of kneeling and bowing and all of that. There are lots of those little things and Years of Karate have not lead me wrong in that. Most of those things are the same. In fact the basic warm up is almost exactly the same.
So... unsurprisingly... I'm not that good. Heh. I need to work on a ton of stuff. I have trouble breaking down moves in my head to the individual components. I need to be able to think about all of the little parts before I think about the whole motion and I can't do that yet. Maybe I'll work on it some. I need to bring my strikes higher and it feels... odd. My posture will improve doing this, though. Very much about the standing very straight.
I am... sore. Quite sore but in that good post workout way. My head hurts and that has nothing to do with kendo, I don't think. Neither does the fabulous bruise on my shin. My head hurt before I almost cracked it open this morning and now it hurts more.
The best part about Kendo, though, was I didn't hurt until after, for the most part. And the super cool looking guy (Cody knows who I'm talking about) told me I was doing well for my first evening.
Super cool looking guy, who's name I can't remember, looks like he's right out of a Japanese period piece. Fit right in in.... Well... it isn't Japanese but he'd have fit right in in House of Flying Daggers, for instance. And he just passed his test for 4th don and can teach now. I was so unsurprised.
Anyway... I should do work things since... I'm at work.
