What is /this/ about? Damn it. If they's just modernized his animation a bit... that would have been coole but why does he look like some sort of evil psycho-killer? Dear God.

I like new things but that one is lame.

Looking around this morning made me sad since the whole hockey cancelation thing is a) on every freaking paper and b) probably the most publicity the sport has ever gotten in the US.

Also, for people coming to see Constantine, the lovely and talented Heather has provided a link for tickets.

Okay...I've been seeing this elsewhere, and I read the article that went with it. Whatever the odd character is, it's part of a non-looney-tunes show. Like, how Tiny Toons was kinda/sorta one (same animal archetypes; Buster being a Bugs type, Plucky being a Daffy type).

Just a different show, familiar Looney Tunes archetypes. A lot of the reactions I saw were like OMGWTF HATE HATE HATE! (like, new characters in X-books). If they were saying this was Bugs, I'd eb ticked, but the article makes a point that it isn't. :)

Oh. Okay. I admit I skimmed the article but...

I don't know, really. Do you think someone can find the Tiny Toons (in re-inventing the characters and such) gold twice?

I am sorry if I came across as harsh. Total reaction moment. :(

As for striking gold twice, no idea. Part of me is still shocked that Teen Titans has done as well as it has. I did not expect that. :)

I really like how Teen Titans took what could have been a weakness (the tenuous ties to reality that that cartooning style had) and turned it into a strength.

No, no. It's cool. Not at all harsh my dear. I got totally the wrong impression of this from the parts I did read.

Still... I don't know if 'edgy' is always the way to go. Using Teen Titans as a comparison.. well.. It is dark and edgy at points but at others it is completely inane. The comparison can come across the board but the original Looney Toons are kind of like The Muppets. I don't think until you go back and watch them when you're older do you really appreaciate them.

Now I have this picture of Ultimate Muppets in my head.

Check out the perm on Fozzie! ;)

I'll check later. Read the scene, I'd imagine he'd find out/know about that. :)

The plots are action-oriented, filled with chases and fights. Each character possesses a special crime-fighting power.

Oh, Gods; that sounds HORRIBLE!

Heh.

Nah. That part doesn't sound so bad. I guess what I'm reacting to is this trend towards making everything darker. I mean, this is me. I love my dark and angsty and twisted stuff but if everything were that way, it wouldn't be nearly so cool.

I disagree. Teen Titans did well with a little dark because they were a superhero group, they already went around fighting crime. I don't see Bugs and Daffy as a good medium for action and existential agnst. I guess I just got too used to the classic Loony Toons of the 40s and 50s. Chuck Jones over Frank Miller is my association when it comes to Bugs.

Well, it could work but the crime fighting thing is what really catches me up. There are a lot of parallels I could draw between Teen Titans as a cartoon and what this whole thing could be. It could be dark and scary and inana at other points.

You're right, though, the part that does snag in my brain is the 'special crime fighting powers'.

I know. It's lame. They cancel things that are good and they keep things that are trash...
