I have an idea that is growing in the back of my head but this... this is bigger than most of them tend to be. This one would involve getting some sort of financing from a bank in order to start my own business and... Well... That's really terrifying, to be honest. I am not a numbers person and am... well, I'm not phenominally bad with money but it does tend to flow through my fingers like water.

I know I've mentioned this in passing to some of you. Right now, I'm still in the, wow that would be amazingly cool, stage of things but I'm almost to the investiagting to see how much money it would take and if it would even be possible stage of things.

It's really, really scary, believe it or not.

Most of the time nothing comes of my ideas but sometimes... Sometimes things happen and they're good.

So... I'm thinking and not entirely seriously at this point. It's just that that building being empty by my house galls me. It should freaking work. You should be able to make that work. Maybe it is jsut a bad location... It is out from the city aways and not far enough to be kind of cool just enough to be annoying...

Thinking. Mmmmm.

I know we don't know each other well, but from what I've read about you and your manner of approach with finances, I think you have the right head on your shoulders to attempt this sort of effort. Plus...well...what harm is there in investigating?

Good luck, truly.

If I ever become independently wealthy, I'm going to open a gaming store.

I feel like I should be doing something non-profit oriented, but I don't really think I have the skills or temperment for it, so this way at least I'd have a job that I like.

Heh. Yeah. I understand that. If I got tons and tons of money, I would want to open a comic store. I'd probably never make any money with it.

are you talking about the Cinema Grill? It's an excellent idea, and with the area around it starting to perk up a bit, it might actually work a little better.

There are other theatres in town who do the whole "dinner and a movie" thing; might not hurt to check into how they're doing, and how much they're having to charge.

I am, indeed.

There are? I didn't know there were any. See? I'm in the 'this is a cool idea and I haven't done any research' stage. There is one in Austin that I desperately would love to emulate in a way but I don't think I'd want to get that fancy, because it is pretty swank, all told.

I think a good place to start to get a feel as to what people would be willing to go to would be to place a poll in the [livejournal.com profile] seattle community.

When I moved to Seattle (in 2000) I remembered hearing about one. But haven't heard anything about it recently. So, my curiousity just roused, I did some websearching.

Turns out that Cinema Grill from Colorado opened a theater here, but the link on the article from '99 says that it's closed.

Leigh's thought about opening a cross stitch shop before, but it's more the idea of getting (and possibly losing) the money is daunting, the buisiness itself woudl be the easy part.
