Toy Story 3

Really. Well... That's going to be ... Yeah.

Someone needs to step up and court Pixar already. A dinner maybe.... A little bit of dancing.... LucasFilms? The Hensons? C'mon... someone...

Jim Henson Co might be a good choice, but it wouldn't really keep Pixar farther away from Disney (who now own the Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House; I don't think JHC can even use Kermit in their logo anymore).

Well, they're seperate things, I thought. Disney bought the Muppets and Bear and those things because Henson Co. is going a different direction from all of that. (Evidenced by Farscape and Mirrormask.)

That's true. But... while I heart HensonCo, the relationship with Disney is still pretty friendly. I'd MUCH rather see Pixar join forces with Henson than with Lucas... though having seen the ep3 trailler, I just can't stay mad. I haven't even seen ep2, and the base of my brainstem has started to itch about ep3.

This sequel has nothing to do with Pixar - they're still leaving after Cars (according to the article). Good for them!

Disney held the rights to Toy Story sequels, so I'm guessing it'll be held to their usual (direct-to-video) sequel standards.

Thing is, all those companies you mebtioned are production companies, same as Pixar is. Neither has their own distribution arm, They'd need to be courted by a Paramount, Sony, 20th or Universal. Or they could distribute themselves, but I'd say they're better off going on a film by film basis, like Lucas, whose movies are shopped around with people bidding for the rights to distribute them.

As for JHC, there's a lot more to it since they were bought by a German company who dismantled the whole company.

At the cost of their own stock value. Two years after EM.TV put JHC on the block (in 2001, a year after buying it), the Henson children bought it back for peanuts and have been breathing life back into it. Except, as has been established, for the Muppets, whom they sold into bondage.
