Well, I don't think I've ever really cared about Columbus Day.

I can say that I wasn't at all expecting Christopher Reeve's death to bother me as it has. I mean, Kerry mentioned him in a speech just the other day. I think what impressed me most about the man is what he did after his accident. He's raised millions of dollars to help other people. Some part of me assumed that he would walk again. It was only a matter of time before he'd just get up. He'd moved fingers and strengthened his muscles...

Anyway. I just didn't expect to be ... upset by it. It's a little shocking. I think the last time I felt like this about a celebrity was when Jim Henson died. All I can say is it takes real strength to continue encouraging and inspiring people after an accident like that. I'd probably want to run away and hide.

It's a relief in a way to have another reason to be sad - other than politics and soldiers dying and the world generally being messed up in general.

I have work I need to do. Vendors are already annoying me and I've been here for less than an hour.

Have to say, Kat, I'm there with you. He did some amazing things and truly deserved the name Superman. The good work he did is just astonishing.

He will be missed.
