Tad Williams wrote an excellent short story in the Legends II collection. It's set in the Otherland universe and follows Orlando around after everything that happened. It made me a little sad for a few reasons but it is well worth the read if you've read the Otherland books.

Played X-men Legends last night. I played it for much, much longer than I thought. I paused got up, changed the water in my turtle's tank. It was 8:30. I rescued Gambit. (Man, do I really freaking hate Marrow. Pinpointed lightning strikes ruin just about anyone's day, though.) Then we go on a mission to the U.S.S Arbiter. And Storm says, "Isn't that where they're keeping Ma..." before she gets cutoff.

Yeah. That's where I'd keep Magneto. On an aircraft carrier. Sure, you're isolated and hard to find for rescue attempts but if he gets even a little bit free... The thing is /made/ of titanium! Ah well, the mission is kicking me around, so it's obviously Danger Room time.

Tonight I'm going to see The Machinist. Hopefully I won't fall over dead during it. This cold is really starting to get to me. At least that's what it feels like. I'm all blurry.

There was a collection of short stories pulled together a few years ago, called Legends. They made a second one, it is Legends II.

Yep...all 3 platforms..

Oh, and the Arbiter's a pain in the ass. Make sure you have Cyclops in your party :)

I haven't gotten everyone yet. There are... three on that list that I don't have yet.

And can I say it worried me when I can't get Jean for a mission? When it won't let you pick her? I mean... Where is she? What is she doing? Is she dead? There is a lot of Phoenix talk.

Emma, Psylocke, and Havok are the last 3...

Oh, Jean's going to be doing something for your team from the sideline. You'll need Cyclops to shore up the work she's done for you...

I don't have Colossus yet, either, so that's four.

Hmmmmmm. Okay. I guess I'll have to bring him on. Meh.

Had a chance to play a little bit this past Monday. Can safely say I /want/ this game. However, also found its much easier two player, and more fun really being able to focus on a couple chars, and reliably having the fighter/blaster combo working together, and that was still in the 'getting used to this' stage.
Will have to play more, definitely - when I get the chance. Not a lot of game budget for a little while here.

I can see where you're coming from. I don't mind playing it solo. You just have to be good with the switching. I like switching between Logan and Storm and making sure that the other two people aren't doing something stupid.

The absolute best thing about the game is the level of detail/love put into it. Specifically the locations. They all -look- like they should, right out of the comics. Seeing the Mansion in such detail, or Asteroid M, Department H and even *heart* the farkin' Astral Plane.

Second best? The voices. They're superb! Save for Alison, but then something about the sound of her voice does something to me. And Gambit, who IMHO has a very sucky voice. But everyone else is just great! Lou Diamond Phillips as Forge, man!

The game play is a little tough, and personally, I -like- that. I like that the game is a challenge and just not a cake walk. It makes it fun. PLus,t here's the option to have up to four players at once, which is just great for us geeks. Get three friends, be your favorite X-Men! The sucky thing though is that not all missions have four people, with an almost required solo mission between each team one (thus, lots of sitting out/watching of friends who are playing too).

Personally, it's great for me to run around as Cyclops. It was kind of frustrating at first, at the lower levels that he would die rather easily. But now? I just zark away, helping out my teammates (mainly Beast, played by my ever-lovin' partner Dr. Wit) to just clobber the baddies into submission. Like in the comics, he's advanced and become fearsome the further along he goes. ;)

Frankly, I know I'm going to be disappointed when I beat the game. It will be over, with little/no way for there to be a way to continue on (even if ther eis such a feature, which I doubt there is). But, it's given me hope that mybe there will be a follow-up game with such a continue-play function (and hopefully one with more team/multi-player missions), but with all the same level of detail and love.

Oh, and one last thing? Never even bother to use Jubilee. :p Like int he comics, she's useless. ;)

So I take it you like it? *grins*

I'm generally displeased with a large chunk of Gambit's stuff. Meh, I say. The voice work is great, though I'm a little shaky on Storm's voice at times.

I love the fact that it is hard. I'm not the best at these games, mind you but I like there to be challenge. This is much better than Rise of Sin-Tzu but I must admit I still get a kick out of that one. (Mainly because I love the interaction between Babs and Nightwing when you're playing. Especially the comment from Babs of "Batman's never done that before." *snicker*)

Jubilee... Yeah. I use her in the Danger room sometimes just to give her some play but for the most part I must have Storm in my party and Rogue is a damage machine, though a bit slow. Wolverine is pretty much unstopable and is my go to guy in rough situations. The fourth person I use is flexible, depending on the situation.

I didn't mind playing solo through the first part. When there got to be enough chars to switch, that also went alright. But it was defeinitely better playing two player. Kind of like jedi power battles once you unlock one of the people with blasters - lots of fun alone, much better when not.

I dislike the solo missions in between the team ones 'cause Wit's got to sit out. I'd much rather run around and knock Morlock skulls with him. So I definately agree with you. :)

It's also fun to have four players running around, to make things interesting. Like... when you're fighting a group of armed soldiers and Jean's off in the corner kicking a wayy, while you get shot to death. ;)

God. I hate what she became. She was neat when she was all cloaked and armored and mysterious and BRITISH. I couldn't stand the ninja-ho.
