Yo, yo, yo...
Feb. 24th, 2001 03:21 pmI'm in London. This is so cool.
I've seen so many things and been so many places I'd only read about in regency novels and other books. I'm currently sitting in an interner cafe on Baker Street about a block away from where Sherlock Holmes was supposed to have been. Wacky, wacky, wacky.
I'm at a hotel about a block away from the Charles Dicken's museum. I saw Big Ben. I was Westminster Abbey. I walked down the Strand and across the Thames. MY FEET HURT.
Tubes are cool. To bad Seattle is built on fill or I'd tell them to ditch the entire monorail idea.
I've been hit on more times in my few days in here in this city than I have in a year and a half in Seattle. Go figure.
I lvoe the city but I could never live here. It would be the biggest shame in the entire world to take all of this stuff for granted, not to marvel at the Parliment building in the sun, to shrug and walk on after going, "Eh... It's just another church..." (Keyboards in Englad are strange creatures, too.)
Anyway... Gotta go. Must go to Madame Tussaud's wax Museum.

Touring
Date: 2001-02-24 09:22 am (UTC)Go to Trafalger Square and feed the pidgeons, too.
Go to pubs and have a Bodingtons or a Tetley Bitter or Pale. And for god's sake, have a budweiser, it's fucking incredible.
Don't go to the london dungeons. Try to see a show. And try to get out of london... maybe go see Warwick castle, it's not too far from london.
Go to Cardiff, because Wales kicks ass.

Date: 2001-02-26 04:29 am (UTC)I'd also advise drinking beer that is a little less mass produced if people are looking for a change. Hell, Boddys in a can is cheaper in the States than here and tastes pretty much identical to the from the tap variety.
Double decker bus tour... to get any use you need to be up top and it's *cold* here right now.
Re: Touring
Date: 2001-02-27 10:36 am (UTC)I did enjoy Trafalgar Square though. It's the sort of place one can go to think. Snowed while I was there. I would step out of the square and it would stop. It was neat.
Re: Touring
Date: 2001-02-27 10:33 am (UTC)Went on a double decker bus, but not a tour. I walked and Tubed and saw lots of neat, neat things.

Didn't have a chance to get outside London. Next time, I think I will be much less in the city.
