Erica Durance has landed the coveted role of Superman's future love Lois Lane on The WB Network series Smallville. Jensen Ackles has been added to the cast as a regular. He will play the stubbornly independent heir to a rich Metropolis financial firm who becomes romantically involved with Lana Lang.

Rebecca Romijn says X3 will start filming in May.

The next Star Trek movies will be (says Rick Berman) of the Romulan Wars and cast almost entirely with people no one knows...

There is news that Superman may have a saviour out there. Apparently they are actually close to signing a director and it is a director that has recently become very, very fond of making comic book movies and making them well. We'll see what happens.

I love Green Arrow. Hawk and Dove don't look too shabby, either. Just a little over two weeks.

In the October solicits it is hinted at more that Tarantula is the one to bite it. PLEASE? Seriously... please?

That's it for today.

I've seen lots of toys. I've seen the comic book for it. It starts in the Fall along with most kids shows. *grins* So probably September. Looks cool from what I've seen.

Holy crap, new Star Trek!

The Romulan Wars were prior to TOS, right? So that would set this between Enterprise and TOS. Unless I'm misremembeing and that first Romulan appearance in TNG (featuring Marc Alaimo!) was 50 years after the Romulan Wars, and so that would put in between TOS and TNG, and possibly give us some action with... wasn't the Enterprise-B destroyed in Generations? So maybe no Enterprise at all.

I am cautiously excited about this. The Romulans are cool.

Yeah. They were after Enterprise and prior to TOS. The Enterprise B was destroyed in Generations. Wasn't it C that had the weirdo encounter with Romulans? I don't remember. My Trek-fu is not strong.

The C was involved between the Klingons and Romulans, but since there were no survivors (except the captives), the D was the one that made first contact with the Romulans.

Poepl on the Trekweb boards are going on about how this was all long-range missiles and nobody ever met a Romulan, and therefore it will be a crappy movie. Like hell. It would take work, but you could fit a story in there, even if it's a rehash of "Balance of Terror," which was really good.

First contact with Klingons was supposed to be after the "Enterprise" timeperiod too, but they still show up there. The offical history will be bent again, and it won't be the first time.

X3 = YAYAYAYAYAY

As for the new Star Trek, I'm pretty stoked. I always enjoyed the grittier sides of the Trek universe (Borg, the Human Wars that preceded exploration, etc...) and I'm always happy to see them go after more.
