My CD player bit the dust. *frump*

Time to look for another one... Or just bite the bullet and by an mp3 player.

Any suggestions?

iPods are notoriously unhappy about talking to non Mac computers. At least this is what I have seen with other people who have gone this route. I like iPods. I am just wary. And I can get the same amount of storage cheaper through other brands.

Nah. All you need to do is run Windows XP or Windows 2000 with service pack 4. Then, you need a firewire-to-USB cable. Then download and use iTunes (free download).

Trust me, I do it alla time. :)

Hrm. Last time I tried to do anything firewire/USB at all my computer threw a fit. Then again, I've upgraded OSes since then.

I agree with Ape. I love the mini. Sure, for $50 more you can get 11gigs more of space, but for me 4 gigs is enough. It's not that hard to upgrade your playlist. It's small, sleek, sexy, and works just fine with windows. ^_^

Get a CD player that can play both MP3s and CDs. I think I got mine for like 50.00 at Radio Shack. Best buy is a good place to go, as is Fred Meyer suprisingly enough, or if you are feeling up to the task Fry's in Renton is a godsend for looking around.

Although I have toyed around with the idea of just upgrading my phone to a PDA with a half a gig mem card in it and just throw a bunch of MP3's on there, that's a bit extreme.... oh well good hunting.

The discount is not that great, all told.

Rio Karma.

My [livejournal.com profile] seamusyote ADORES his.

It works and plays well with windows, has a GREAT UI, can act as its own MP3 server if you hook it up (via a provided Ethernet port on the cradle) to your network. And it does all sortsa other spiffy things.

Granted, it's $250 - $300. But it's a 20GB with solid features and excellent functionality.

I'm jealous, if you couldn't tell.

Oh, and it's Black (http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/shop/_templates/item_main_Rio.asp?model=220&cat=56)

I like mp3 CD players, personally- especially if you have a CD burner. They offer a lot of flexibility, and they're cheap.

And as a plus, their hard drives can't crash since they don't have hard drives. :D
