FRIDAY! (And entertainment news..)
Jun. 1st, 2004 09:56 amSo, since poker would have such a small turn out this Friday, I'm doing Harry Potter on Friday. There are showings at 7:00 and 10:10 at the Oak Tree. I'm leaning towards 7:00 unless someone can give me reasons for later.
June is a good DVD month. Quantum Leap and Wonder Woman season 1 are coming out. The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra is also coming out. So is Flight of the Navigator. There is a ton of great stuff coming out this month.
Annasophia Robb will be Violet Beauregarde and newcomer Julia Winter be Veruca Salt in the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They're both almost entirely new actresses. Johnny Depp is Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore is Charlie Bucket.
Rosario Dawson has been added to the cast of Sin City.
Gerard Butler is going to star in Beowulf and Grendel. Should be some interesting stuff there.
From The Hollywood Reporter: Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined Serenity, Joss Whedon's film version of Firefly. Ejiofor is the first actor to sign on who did not appear in the Fox TV series. He will play a character known as the Operative, an assassin and tracker who speaks with eloquent sophistication.
Reading the reviews of Donni Darko, the extended edition... Well, I don't know if I'll get anything out of it. If you love the movie, apparently it will thrill you with the new footage. I think it is an okay movie but it didn't do anything amazing for me. After watching The Day After Tomorrow I can say that Jake Gyllenhaal seems to play characters with bad plane luck. I think that scene in the plane freaked me out more than almost anything else in the movie.
Apparently there were test screenings of Riddick which involved plot and the audience left confused and so they're cutting the plot out of it. They're release the plot version of the movie to DVD. I think I'll wait for the plot version, thanks.
