It's all part of Apple's plan to protect it's market-share and product space. See, if they offer an exclusive quicktime trailer, and people port it to other formats, then they won't have to download and install quicktime. Which means they'd actually be able to download and save movies to their harddrive. And noone wants that. Furthermore, when they view a movie, they won't get the annoying little banner telling them why they should upgrade to quicktime pro, which means people won't click on the "go away" button every single time, day after day, year after year, until you just buy a fucking license to make the damn thing go away so you can watch your trailers in peace, and then Apple will lose money.
