I liked it.

It was much better than Reloaded.

I don't want to talk about it too much right now for those of you who haven't seen it. I stand by my feeling that a lot of people won't like the ending because of cultural storytelling conventions.

I still must own the soundtrack.

And I actually do have a favorite character now.

Yeah. I kept having to explain to people that it was very japanese. I mean the whole thing was, but what you'er talking about in particular.

I liked the ending! But I'm weird for an American. I'm not even an American who watches anime, so I don't have any draw to the Japaneseishness of it (as in: well, if you say so, it's very Japanese). I just like endings like that.

(What a very cryptic discussion this is. Hee hee.)

I liked it too. I'm not using the cultural issue to justify the ending as good, but when american audiences are used to one thing, and they get something else, sometimes it helps to explain the culture behind it. I like anime and such because I enjoy japanese storytelling, I don't like japanese storytelling because I like anime. :)

Also, Lithera and I are both just saying that some peopel are going to dislike it because there is a cultural difference, not that people who aren't into anime will hate it and people who are will love it.

"It was much better than Reloaded."

I have a feeling most people might think that... I think Reloaded was better... Revolutions is pretty much just a straightforward sci-fi action movie... a very good one... but I didn't find it very challenging or as interesting as Reloaded... the second one kept you guessing, this one is kinda predictable.

I could be wrong. Peopel could like it. It's just been my experience that this is not so.

I'm glad you liked it.

It was predictable.

For me Reloaded was predictable and boring. (And the CG drove mecrazy in places.) There wasn't anything in Reloaded that I hadn't pieced together from other things. I kept waiting for it to surprise me and it didn't. There should have been more showing and less telling, as well.

It seemed to me to cling to the most pervasive storytelling convention of all. I can't really say more lest I give it away, but if I get around to posting an actual review, I'll discuss it in more depth there.

Well, the very, very end did, certainly.

Agh!

Being non-spoiler is hard.

Well, saying the end is "japanese" is pretty spoiler-y. But I forgive you.

I liked the ending. :)

Actually, I thought the entire movie could not have been done better, and that it was the only reasonable way to end it logically and make me happy.

I'm very very content with it. Almost as happy as watching the first Lord of the Rings.

See, I didn't think you'd have a problem with it at all. It seems very much to me like something we would set up for someone in an RP situation. In fact, that might be why so much of this seemed familiar.

Anyway, I liked it. I think I need to see it again - see them all again - and think on it some more, but I'm generally satisfied with the movie.

Only if someone knows what a "japanese" ending is. Personally I don't, and I'm curious what everyone is talking about, because it seemed to have very (for lack of a better or less spoilery term) "Western" ending.

But then, I'm not sure it would help much anyways. What's an "American" ending? I'd probably say it's one where the lead gets the girl, defeats the bad guy, and they all live happily ever after, even (or especially) when it feels forced. But then again, Casablanca, The Godfather, Braveheart, and Sixth Sense were all big American movies, and none had that ending. None were even close.

Just got back.
I liked it.
I liked the ending.
And I liked the Special FX.
That said, I think it was missing some bits to tie some pieces together.
And I wish the state of the art of Special FX were good enough to erase the telltails of CG. Sadly, I think the human mind is geared to tell us "that just doesn't look right." Correct motion is just so impossibly difficult.

The ending bits were juicy and I love them so.
I liked the ending.

What I think would have caused US audiences to hate it would be if things turned out like she said they might if he fucks up.
