Well, I haven't LARPed in years. Looking back at it there was a long time where I went not because I wanted to but instead because I was a main character and I had to be there.
Yeah. The vampirism is ... well, there are a few very important things one has to do to be a 'vampire' and I don't do most of them. The most obvious being drink blood.
I'd point out the amateurishness of the article and how all its flaws show that it was clearly written by an inadequate geek (I mean, why do Star Wars and Star Trek really count as separate geekinesses [not geekdoms] when they manifest in the same ways, and how come miniatures gaming doesn't rate, when that has plenty of sex life damage?) but that would just be too geeky.
There's a reason Seanbaby can't get a job at a real paper. Well, he could at Newsday. They do amateur crap like that all the time.
I would say that Star Trek and Star Wars do rate differently. You typically don't get Trekkers dressed up anywhere but a Con. You get Star Wars guys dressed up at the drop of a hat.
Speaking of Miniatures Gaming -- wanna play Blood Bowl on the 23rd? I know you work that day, but I can probably be in town by the time you're off work.
We can treat it as a "pre-season" game if you'd like, even though "Kickoff" is on or about the 15th (meaning games CAN count at that point).
a) I'm going to the Corner Tavern that night around 8 to drink beer and hear country music, but if we can play before then, that'd be cool. (And you're welcome to come along!) b) I don't need no wussy pre-season games!
that's clearly a failing. I mean when I'm in a programming groove and going on and on and on about the failings of struts, that's got to be at least as annoying as a star wars fan ;)
Hmm, 9, 7, and 4 for sure (though EQ is not my drug of choice these days), and probably half of 10, 5, and 3.
The thing they don't mention is that if two geeks of the same type and appropriate genders meet up, then tend to have more sex than just about anyone else. I think it's some sort of geek critical mass thing.

As for me, I suppose I could fit into......
9, 7, 5, 3, and probabally still 1.
I think I miss vampirism like you, but also like you, not by much.
