Entertainment news.
Sep. 15th, 2003 10:26 amOMG. This... this sounds horrible. Almost as bad as that Superman script.
From Entertainment Weekly: It's not a done deal, but Depp sees "Wonka" as the ultimate without-a-net challenge. "You'll never escape that memory that's seared into your consciousness of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka," he admits. "It was really amazing to watch as a kid growing up, and I've watched it with my kids. So it's just, Okay, where do I go from there? Gene Wilder did something very beautiful and it's time to take it somewhere else."
Ghost Rider and Elektra have filming start dates. Ghost Rider next spring and Elektra next summer.
Note to self - Pick up El Cazador #1 at the comic store when you go. Pirates!
From Dark Horizons:
- Aliens vs. Predator: A trailer is tipped to be sent out 'loose in the film can' with the "Alien Director's Cut" release on Halloween.
- Batman: Intimidation: Batman on Film has heard one interesting casting speculation for the 'slightly younger but middle-aged' Commissioner Gordon role - Dennis Quaid.
- The Rum Diaries: The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Johnny Depp, Josh Hartnett, Benicio Del Toro & Nick Nolte are attached to an adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's classic novel. Depp and Del Toro starred in the previous Thompson adaptation "Fear & Loathing Las Vegas".
- Red Dwarf: The Movie: Originally slated to begin production next month, it looks like a film version of the cult smash sci-fi sitcom has pushed back its start of shooting date again to next year.
- Constantine: The Garth Ennis storyline with the three lords of Hell seems to be the basis for the "Hellblazer" adaptation according to recent casting notes.
Apparently Christian Bale's contract for Batman has him signed for one sequel and Batman vs. Superman if it ever happens. There is more Superman rumors but who really knows what's going on there. The names being bounced around are better than Ashton Kutcher but... Not by too much.
Ocean's 12 and Catwoman are funded by the same company (as is Troy) and that company (Village Roadshow) is in trouble. Troy is near completetion so it isn't in too much danger. Not so sure on the other two.
And I finally replaced Orlando with something else on my desktop. I have Doc Ock on my desktop here at work.
