Interesting....Movie stuff...
Jul. 16th, 2003 06:52 amIn anticipation of the Pirates of the Caribbean's success, Disney had made sequel arrangements with such key cast members as Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, as well as with the behind-the-scenes duo of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski. A script is being worked on. Since opening on Wednesday the film has earned more than $78 million.
Disney is doing something strange and releasing Brother Bear on a Saturday. This is because it wanted to move up the date but not release on Halloween.
Joss Whedon, creator of Fox's canceled SF western series Firefly, told Sci Fi Wire that he is close to a deal to write and direct a feature film based on the short-lived show.
The New York Times reports that Kill Bill will be released as two films. They talk about serializing it but two films doesn't make it a serial. "Harvey Weinstein, a co-founder of Miramax, which is financing the film, said in an interview on Monday that the first installment would be in theaters on Oct. 10. The second release date is in still being negotiated, but it could be two to six months later, he said."
While talking to the press about his upcoming HBO movie, And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself, about the Mexican revolutionary, Antonio Banderas revealed that he will begin filming on the sequel to 1998's The Mask of Zorro in February.
Ian McKellen has updated his Lord of the Rings Journal again. It's a great read.
And I see posters I might have to get for various things... Mmmmmm... And why are maquettes so expensive?
