Hockey stuff... Must say something about...

The Devils won the Stanley Cup last night and now on the hockey list here, there are people who are disatified with the fact thta Giguere won the MVP trophy. I am thrilled by that decision. It is for the most valuable player during the playoffs. If J. S. Giguere thought that cutting his heart out and throwing it on the ice would have helped him win, I think he might have done it. I had to stop watching last night because to see people give so much and play so hard and not win was painful to me.

It isn't the MVP of the winning team - it was the MVP of the playoff season. That person has to be Giguere. Without him the Ducks would not have gotten to the finals, let alone force a game 7. Broduer is good and I think he's my favorite goalie still playing. But he wasn't the MVP.

Either way, the hockey season is over. Until September.

boo for the Devils!

disapointing, but the Ducks gave me the best playoff run since my Penguins won their second cup in 92... it's a shame they came up one game short...

I was glad Giguere got the MVP... it was too heart wrenching to see the lame Devils skate the cup though so after they gave out the MVP award I turned it off...

They had the same argument after the World Cup. Oliver Kahn, Germany's goalkeeper, was named MVP of the tournament, despite Brazil winning the game. Ronaldo made a comment about how the MVP should be the guy who scores the goals in the final. Bullshit, I say. Just because somebody is on a losing team doesn't mean they aren't the best player.

Of course, it kinda makes the question:

how did they lose if the goalie was so good.

Not to poopoo Giguereiegieiure (fuck, I can never spell his name), but if he was THAT good, why did the Devils score 3 times in game 7?

Of course, lack of offense hurts, too.

Well, the thing is, no matter how good a goalie is, if the rest of your team doesn't show up, you can't win. The Ducks defense didn't exist and there was goalie interference on at least one of those goals.

It was crazy. On the reply you could clearly see where one of the Devils grabed Giguere's stick and smacked it out of the way. Crazy.
