I highly recommend catching Cowboy Bebop while it is in the Varsity. Playing until Thursday.

All currently slated for summer 2005 - Elektra, Daredevil 2, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Indiana Jones 4, Iron Man, James Bond 21, Jurassic Park IV, King Kong, Star Wars: Episode III, XXX2.

Seth Green has joined the cast of Scooby Doo Two.

About a week ago we at TheARNOLDFANS.com received a revised "King Conan" script. The new script was lighter than the original 165-page. John Milius finished his 2nd draft, trimmed down his long epic from a 3.5 hour movie to a 2 hour (+) time and added a couple of script suggestions by The Wachowski Brothers. The Matrix directors, The Wachowskis, were very interested in producing King Conan, and it was their idea for a great plot addition.

Bryan Singer, director of X-Men and the upcoming sequel X2, said he has story arcs in mind that could continue into a possible third X-film. "There are three ones I would like to address - if I were to go into a third film - that I would like to go into fruition," Singer said. "You have to see how these things go. That's why I think Empire Strikes Back is so good, works so well, because he (George Lucas) says he had a plan and he did have an idea of a plan, I believe, but it wasn't until Star Wars came together in the way that it did, that you can step back and say, 'OK this is truly the right way to go.'"

And that it for the moment. Lack of website cooperation.

No! I will not! I like wallowing in self-pity and beating up on myself for things I can't control!

Daredevil was succesful enough to merit a sequel? Oh, wait, this is the Hollywood machine, merit has nothing to do with it.

When I first saw you mention "XXX2," I thought, "Why aren't they calling it X-Men III?" Now I get it.

I think xXx2 is a lame title.

It should be yYy or zZz or something like that.

or wWw -- it means they can go back a lot further before they ... no ... wait. That'd mean a lot of sequels. Nevermind.

wWw would be a prequel.

By the time we got to aAa, he'd be kicking ass in his mother's womb!

And then there's wWf, where he kicks a bunch of endangered species around to try to protect the name of the World Wrestling Federation!

It was sucessful enough for a sequel. It's made almost 100 million at the box office. I think that's easily enough for a sequel. I mean, they're making a Scooby Doo sequel for heaven's sake.

Opening weekend money shouldn't count. Only after the word-of-mouth about a movie gets out and people come see it after the first three days, or come back to see it again, should they consider that. Because the money it makes on opening weekend is a product o fthe hype machine, not the movie itself.

Hollywood is b0rken.

Bah. I liked Daredevil. I thought it was wonderful, and a good movie version of a comicbook character.

Hollywood isn't THAT broken. It may have taken two movies before they got the hint, but they pulled Joel Schumaker off the Batman franchise...

I hated Daredevil.

Hollywood isn't so broken that it never does anything right. But they're making a Scooby Doo sequel, for the love of Muppets.

REally? Those are all scheduled for 2005? I would have thought at least some of them would be here for next summer...but there I go, thinkin' again...

Nope, those are all 2005. 2004 is Mission Impossible 3, Troy, Shrek 2, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chronicles of Riddick, Spider-Man 2, I, Robot, Mad Max: Fury Road, Punisher, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Rush Hour 3, Superman, Constantine...

Thought any of that that could change at any moment.

*looks up at the list* Not really. I'm interested in most of that. I'd like to see that Superman project die. Probably could do without Punisher. Not so sure about Keanu as John Constantine, but other than that...

no Keanu as John Constantine. No no no no. Then we'd either have to deal with an American Hellblazer (DEAR GOD PLEASE NO NO NO NO) or Keanu trying to speak with an English accent (DEAR GOD PLEASE NO NO NO NO).

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? Live-action or animated? Faithful or abomination? Likely to continue into Prince Caspian?

I haven't been able to find too much on this one yet. It's being kept pretty quiet. As far as I can tell it is supposed to be live action. I don't know about continuing, but with today's sequel crazy machine, as you pointed out earlier, who knows.

Jim, you should come see the BBC version of the first 4 books sometime. They're completely faithful, albeit with extremely low production values. Watching those made me appreciate people who take liberties.

Date: 2003-04-07 10:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] warpdragon.livejournal.com
You mean, they're completely faithful, and therefore they suck?

Date: 2003-04-07 10:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thezzyzx.livejournal.com
Well part of the reason why they're not great are the production values and incredibly lack of special effect. However, TLTWaTW goes on for over 3 hours. That's way too long for a movie of that book.

"Faithful" does not imply "transliteration."

TLTWaTW? Really? It's got to be better than the BBC teleplay version.
