What time is that, you ask? Playoff hockey time, I must answer.

So. What's it look like? (Not that many of you are actually asking that...)

In the East:
Ottawa Senators vs NY Islanders
New Jersey Devils vs Boston Bruins
Tampa Bay Lightning vs Washington Capitals
Philidelphia Flyers vs Toronto Maple Leafs

In the West:
Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers
Detroit Red Wings vs Anahiem Mighty Ducks
Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild (Hey.. Both no s teams..)
Vancouver Canucks vs St. Louis Blues

My choices for winning the first round:
Ottawa
New Jersey
Tampa Bay (THis could go either way, but I'd rather see the Lightning win it.)
Toronto (This series will be ugly)
Edmonton (I'm probably wrong here, but this is a classically difficult series for both teams.)
Detroit
Avalanche (I want to see the Wild win. I think they can push it to seven games. I don't think they can take it.)
Canucks (With Ozzie in net the Blues have changed, but I still think the Canucks will take it.)

Detroit vs. Anaheim
Thursday, April 10, at Detroit, 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 12, at Detroit, 3 p.m.
Monday, April 14, at Anaheim, 10:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16, at Anaheim, 10:30 p.m.
x-Saturday, April 19, at Detroit, 3 p.m.
x-Sunday, April 20, at Anaheim, 10 p.m.
x-Tuesday, April 22, at Detroit, 7 p.m.

My rules of who I root for in hockey playoffs:

(1) Any Canadian team should win over any US team

(2) Any team from an area that regularly has lakes freeze should win over a sunbelt team.

(3) The Mighty Ducks should always lose due to their name.

Heh.

I typically agree with those rules. There are a few exceptions. I would add another about the Original Six teams as well, but that's just me.

Would you put Original Six over Canadian? Probably, since Detroit is a non-Canadian Original Sixer.

With the current wave of team namings, a team could never be named the Penguins today.

Well it depends. Typically, I'm going to cheer for the Canadian team over the Original Six team, though. There are two Canadian Original Six teams.
