Teaser images for the Red Dwarf movie. There are people saying it looks fake to them, but I'm not going to say one way or the other. I don't know enough.

Oi - According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Hartnett, who tested for the project, has elected not to portray the Man of Steel in Warner Bros.' Superman adaptation from director Brett Ratner. A new trio of actors has emerged as top choices: Brendan Fraser, Paul Walker and newcomer Matthew Bomer, whose only credits include the daytime dramas Guiding Light and All My Children.

Miramax Films, who brought you musical Chicago, is negotiating for a Guys and Dolls remake that will be produced by Storyline Entertainment partners Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the duo that served as Chicago executive producers. !!!! I LOVE Guys and Dolls.

There are stirrings of a MechWarrior movie... You know... Mech movies typically don't do so well. Works well in anime... not so well in movies. Hmmmmm.

From Variety - "We're not going to end it by saying, 'There can be no "Buffy" no more,'" Whedon said. "But it definitely has a message of emotional and thematic closure that's as important as anything we've said." Although UPN doesn't have the rights to a "Buffy" spin-off, executives have indicated their interest and Whedon said he's willing. The timetable is up in the air, however. "I think ideally the best thing to do would be to wait and not rush anything," Whedon added. "There are paradigms that I've posited that could start next year -- (but) whatever came next, it would have to have at its center an idea as worthy as ('Buffy' and spinoff 'Angel') were. And somebody who's pretty."

New Line says that there are currently no plans to attach a clip for the third (RotK) and final installment onto the second film (TTT). That, of course, doesn't rule out the possibility we'll see a new trailer for "Return of the King" soon. New Line has Willard coming out on March 14 and then A Man Apart on April 4. Both could be candidates for them to attach a trailer to.

The creator of Harry Potter is set to cast a spell over The Simpsons, her spokeswoman confirmed to Reuters. J.K. Rowling will appear as herself in an episode set in England. The episode will also feature Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen. The family go to see him perform the Shakespeare play "Macbeth," but bring him bad luck by saying the play's name aloud -- in defiance of a well-known theatrical superstition.

Superhero Hype! reports that 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises have officially announced an Elektra movie, in addition to a Daredevil sequel.

More X2 stuff that would be spoilery, so I'll just tuck it away in my head to ponder for myself. Hee hee hee.

New stirrings of a Mechwarrior film?

There were stirrings ... hmm ... must be close to five years ago, now.

Yeah. There are new stirrings. I can go look it up, but there is something happening with the rights and someone or other seems interested... Or something.

Damn you, New Line Cinema! Damn you!

Mecha movies haven't been good in the past, but someday there will be one done right. It all depends on the script...

Live-Action Mecha films haven't done well because ... they've universally sucked.

ROBOT JOX, for crying out loud!

... which reminds me ... I need to see if that one is available on DVD ...

Really?

It's in my "So Bad It's Bad" selection of "Films To Buy When I Have Money To Burn"

Hmm. Looks like it's not available currently -- You could order a ($40) VHS through Yahoo! Movies, but I'd guess it's pre-viewd.

Hrm...

I wasn't actually impressed with Daredevil. Probably because I read so many reviews that hyped it up to insane levels, and when I saw the finished product I was severely underwhelmed. In any event, I thought Garner was pretty good as Elektra, but that's probably because I wasn't familiar with Elektra from comics, I just liked her performance in general. Was there a point to this post? I don't think so. Meh. Elektra: good. Daredevil: not-so-good.

I typically agree with you. I think Jennifer Garner actually did a really good Elektra. Maybe its just me, but I think she got it down well.

Now looking back at Daredevil, I think it was watchable. It is something I'll likely add to my DVD collection at some point, but it isn't something I'm going to watch over and over again, certainly.

I'm not really a Daredevil girl anyway. *grins*

Feel free to share it with me -- I'm heading down to see it after the scoring's finished. And while I'll be largely sworn to secrecy, I'm sure Tom will let me share one or two non-major tidbits with friends.
