Feb. 24th, 2003 08:58 amBuffy news. It is sounding more and more like this is it. The end.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures and Chris and Paul Weitz's production company, Depth of Field, have optioned The Elric Saga, a multi-part, Tolkein-esque fantasy series written by Michael Moorcock.
Kennedy Miller Productions, producer of Mad Max: Fury Road, in which Mel Gibson will reprise the role he created in 1979, have decided to film on location in Namibia, Africa rather than outback New South Wales, says Variety.
Bruce Willis is doing Die Hard 4 and Ten Yards. (Sequel to The Whole Nine Yards.)
VGM Fusion has posted the new X2 clip which aired during Fox's broadcast of X-Men last night. You MUST have the latest version of QuickTime installed to view the clip, as it is encoded in the new mp4 QuickTime format. I can't see it because I can't install Quicktime 6 here. I'll have to do it at home. From descriptions I must see this!
IGN FilmForce looked into the matter and heard a RUMOR that Sutherland might be in the running for the lead role of "Johnny Blaze" in Ghost Rider. Calls to Sutherland's agent at the William Morris Agency were referred to his publicist, Annette Wolf, who failed to respond to IGN FilmForce's inquiry. A source close to Marvel Entertainment advised us, however, that "nobody has been cast in Ghost Rider. I've always heard that Nic Cage was the frontrunner."
Hollywood Homicide sounds interesting. Harrison Ford hasn't typically worked out well in comedies, though. Hmmmmm.
X-Men: Evolution will return for a fourth season on Kids' WB! Eeeee! The number of episodes for the fourth season will likely be nine, but that has yet to be confirmed. Nine episodes would push the series' total to 52. Four new episodes remain for the third season, and they are expected to air in May.

Date: 2003-02-24 09:27 am (UTC)Ron Shelton came into teh store wile filming this, looking for a copy of "Streetcar Named Desire." He said he needed it becuase Harrison Ford's character is continually quoting it while chasing bad guys.
As for Teh Ghost Rider thing, Nic Cage would SUCK as Johnny Blaze (I have EVERY appearance of teh Blaze Ghost Rider, my fave as a kid). The guy who wrote and directed Daredevil wrote a TV pilot for GR a bunch of years ago and teh suits at Marvel were very impressed with the "detail given to character." I tried to explain that almost all writers focus on character and not on the action and effects, that's teh studios' job, but he was unimpressed with that.
Re:
Date: 2003-02-24 09:33 am (UTC)I think Kiefer would do a good job. Of course, at the moment, Ghost Rider isn't anyone's main goal movie, as far as I can tell. I think it could be an excellent film. It would be a shame if they didn't do him justice, though and go fully into what was going on there.

Date: 2003-02-24 09:54 am (UTC)Without being spoiler-y, it's about the first real conflict of the movie, with about twice the footage (of this part of the movie) than previous previews, with a lot of time spent focussing on one particular mutant (not Wolverine).
