The Japanese get everything cool first. Example? This ad for the Matrix sequels. I think this will show here during the Super Bowl, but I'm not sure. They're going to be total bastards and play the trailer for the third movie right after the cliffhanger ending of the second. It is a good way to get you wanting more, though....

Too many damn sequels. Too many. Rar! Stop now. Most movies don't need sequels. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH.

Sorry. Just saw plans for a movie that should not have sequels.

No, no. It's worse than that.

I know about American Pie 3... Not Hot Chick 2? Nine Crazy Nights? Mr. Deeds Goes to Africa?

No, no. You're going down the wrong line of thought. Think perfectly excellent movie. Think of movies that will never need a sequel but are going to get them anyway.

(Though going the route you were looking before, there are Blair Witch 3 and Highlander 5 in the making.)

So not "Legally Blonde 2", then.

Or "Seriously, Dude, Where's My Car?"

Or the long-rumored "Bill & Ted 3"

Or the nearly mythical "Indiana Jones 4"

"King Conan"

Hmm ...

"Mission: Impossible 3"

"Rambo 4"

"Ocean's 12" (Or did they settle on "Ocean's Dozen"?)

"Beetledeuce"

"Blade Runner 2"

"Cube 2: Hypertime"

"Escape From Earth"

"Fully Monty 2"

"Ghostbusters 3: Hellbent"

"Heathers 2"

"The Holy Road" ("Dances With Wolves" 2)

"Jumanji 2"

"More Trouble In Little China"

"The Mask 2: Son of the Mask"

"Rocky VI"

"Roger Rabbit 2"

"Shrek 2"

"Willow 2"

The good news is: Most of these titles are Dead, Dead, Dead. The bad news is that they were ALL actually considered. At least one of 'em was filmed.

About half of them aren't all that dead.

Cube 2: Hypertime was filmed.

Mission Impossible 3, Rocky VI, Ocean's 12 (not that they've decided on a title at all), Indy 4 and King Conan all still have life and are in various stages of pre-production.

I'm ignoring the rumors about Beetlejuice 2.

That ad looks very familiar. I think I've seen most of that footage before...

You probably have, though there are one or two scenes in there that are new.

Yeah. I think the car-flipping was new, and the one with the liquid-tentacly thingy on Neo.

I've seen the car flippy bits before. The liquidy tenticle thing was new. There were Trinity bits that were new, the running around the pillar thing... I hadn't seen the kiss before... Just little bits, but good bits.

What I find even more interesting...

is the fact that both sequels to the Matrix, are coming out in the same year. Which many people didn't expect, as they thought for sure it would get the Lord of the Rings treatment, with one this year, and another next year.

*nods* Well, this was the plan from the begining and part of why it is taking so long to get them out. (Another major factor being actors getting injured on the set.) If this works well, people might continue it in the future.

That and Aaliyah dying in a plane crash after her training was finished but before any filming happened, meaning they had to get a new actress to take kung fu for a year or so.
