I must keep people updated. Ha ha ha ha... Or something. It's funny how much stuff I /don't/ put up here.

Here is an interview with Sci Fi channel's President about Farscape and why thigns went down the way they did.

Did anyone see Anaconda? Apparently enough people did since they're thinking of a sequel. Enh.

Christopher Reeve is going to be on Smallville! That rules! He's going to be on in February. Apparently he is a fan of the show and they'll be running a service announcement for his foundation too.

Even more Batman rumors. There are so many rumors going around about another Batman movie right now. Nothing too substantial, though. They're all "My friend over at such and such heard that..." sorts of rumors.

Howie Long as the Punisher? Didn't we learn? No, no, no, no. Come on. If we're going to make quality comic book movies, let's make quality comic book movies.

Saturday the 25th is the Static Shock premier with Harley, Ivy, Batman and maybe more.

I think that's it for the moment.

Yaknow, I have to aggree with the president on the Farscape issue.

If you weren't there for the whole thing (or willing to do a LOT of catch-up / homework to get it), you were mostly lost on the plot, characters, etc.

Of course, I hate the Stargate show, but whatever.

But Babylon 5 was the same way -- five year story arc (god bless JMS), and it was doing really well until it moved to TNT. And then they kept switching the time slots around, pre-empting it for basketball games, etc etc...

One thing I think that Sci-Fi did wrong (on purpose? who knows.) was moving Farscape to 10 PM on Fridays. That's REALLY late. Why not keep it at 8PM or 9PM like they did the previous three seasons? I'd love to hear the reason behind that scheduling decision.

And they've moved it back to 8PM for the last few episodes.

B5 was a little easier to jump into on the face of things. You didn't get the overall underlying story, but the episode you were watching was still appealling.

Farscape was . . . daunting.

I agree on that. If you picked up Farscape in the first season, you were okay. After that if you missed thigns, you always felt as though you had no idea what was going on. I still that way and I think I've seen most everything I missed along the way. Probably not.

B5 was the opposite way. The first season was likely to encourage you to never watch again. It wasn't that good until you got to later seasons. And those later seasons were well enough crafted that you could get a general idea of what was going on without having to know the relations and back story.

I love farscape

...but I stopped watching it. Mostly because it was hard to track when new episodes were on, and I got behind on my taping. And once I had missed some, catching back up was rather hard.

So eventually I figured screw it - I'll watch the whole thing after it's done and over. DVDs are a fine medium. But now... there won't be a proper ending. Kinda puts a damper on it.

Actually, Babylon 5 nearly died after the fourth season. How much of that was due to ratings and how much due to PTEN (B5 was PTEN's only show at the end) I don't know. That uncertainty is why S4 ends the way it did and why Sleeping in Light is slightly out of joint with the rest of S5.

So, for TV's purposes, continuity is a bad thing, and we must stick with the lowest common denominator - the casual viewer - because there just aren't enough appointment viewers out there.

That part I hate.

The part about the ratings being low for reruns, I can see.

Farscape - *WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH*

I wonder if they count in the BBC watchers in their figures? The BBC must pay SOMETHING quite substantial for it to be broadcast here!!!

*wails* It's my favourite show!

Just because people have no damned loyalty or PATIENCE to watch something, they're gonna CANCEL IT!!! *grumbles about lack of attention span under her breath and stomps away*
