I love this.

Especially this:
"I am thankful for...

... watching my 18-month-old son run around the house all day long waving his mini-sticks in the air and yelling "HOCKEYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!" He's even started saying Zamboni -- which comes out like "Bambooonininin" -- and "WAAAHHHH!" when Patrick Roy makes a big save, but we'll have to work on the little guy for a bit before he can say Czerkawski, Khabibulin, Konowalchuk, Radivojevic or Tjarnqvist.

... Canadians who don't think American hockey fans are idiots. Just because we grew up on the wrong side of the border doesn't mean we don't know the game. And besides, NAFTA regulates the free trade of hockey knowledge south across the 49th parallel.

That is fantastic! That is totally how my kids will be when I have them, I'm sure of it. I don't know which sport, though... hockey, soccer, baseball... it will be their choice, but I am sure I will end up with a kid like that. :)

*grins* That would be awesome. Kids should be that way about all sorts of things.

Absolutely. I was like that about sports and reading, mostly.

That was one thing that was really, really hard with Shane, my ex's son... he wasn't excited about ANYTHING. So, so sad.

I was that way about a lot of things, whatever caught my fancy. Reading was a big one. I liked ballet and tap and softball and swimming...

David's obsession is Baseball.

It's soooo funny to watch him watch a game.

He likes hockey, too. But not basketball & football so much. Hm.

It shows he has taste, my dear. I mean.. Basketball? Ehn. And college football is a more watchable game than pro by light years... but even still.

Well, even when I was watching the Apple Cup, he could care less.

He does take a cue from me, tho. I'm much more likely to watch Baseball and Hockey than any other sport.

Pro Football's a joke (at least locally), and Basketball sucks.

Now soccer. Soccer's a good sport. All we need is to see it more often!

;-)

Agreed. I mean, soccer is like hockey without ice... Kind of. At least close enough to understand one and generally understand the other.

True.

Offsides, goals, goalies, passing, etc. etc.

It's all basically the same.

The level of contact is much different, as are some specific rules. That, and out of bounds doesn't apply to hockey that often.

MMMmmmm hockey.

The Canucks are looking really good this year. If they can keep it up after the All Star break (in FLORIDA?!?!??!) they'll be looking good for the playoffs.

Canucks in the playoffs.

Who'da thunk it????

Well, they were in the playoffs last year. They just had the unfortunate luck to be in the eight place slot and thusly played the 1st place team.... *grins*
