Thus far, I've pretty much abstained from file-swapping. I just wasn't comfortable with it. I didn't object enough to tell people, hey, don't do that, but I didn't like the idea of taking something without giving some money to the hard-working, probably-almost-as-broke-as-me musicians. (Note: this feeling did not extend to copying software made by maybe-hard-working but not-poor-by-any-stretch-of-my-imagination programmers. This is about sympathy, not moral imperatives.)
But a combination of recording artists like Janis Ian and Courtney Love, plus the fact that artists get like 3 cents from each CD purchased from the Corporate Music Monolith, and the general behavior of record company execs, has pretty much convinced me to not Give a Flying Fuck.
My resistance to using my computer as a stereo, though, that will keep me from downloading new music.
