Well, we'll see how this goes.

I signed up to write a novel in November. I'll see how that goes. I certainly have enough ideas in my head. There is one that has been bothering me and it will take a lot of thoguht as to how I want to write it. Don't know if I'm in a place to write that right now, though.

So, I figure I'll start writing and see what comes out.

I was thinking about doing that too... I'm just not sure if that is going to be feasible with the other irons I have in the fire at the moment...

*nods* I don't know how well it will go. I haven't written much in the way of a story in quite sometime. That and my stories seem to just ramble endlessly. I can do short stories since they don't get the chance to start wandering around towards no ending at all.

You should write it now, that way you've got your rough draft all finished at the end of nov. Then you can take your time getting it perfect in your next draft.

That's a good point.

I'm just not sure what the character wants to say and I'm not entirely certain if I want to write it... if that makes any sense.

I think that's cheating.

Well, it isn't supposed to be perfect. It isn't even supposed to be edited, really. I'm just going to write and see what happens. I don't even know if it will be coherent.

What you can and can't write

You can do outlines, research, character sketches... but you can't write the actualy story until Nov 1

No that's not cheating...as far as i know, the point is more to write something than to have a perfected product at the end of the month. As far as i'm concerned it would take a huge amount of experience, a huge amount of talent and a little bit of a miracle, to have a finished "ready for press" novel at the end of a month. *shrug*

I read your post wrong. I thought you were suggesting to Kat that she write a rough draft NOW now, as in before Nov. 1, and then using November to rewrite it into a second draft.

It makes much more sense when I take long enough to read your post that I understand it.

Thanks. I don't know if anyone but me will ever see the beast, but... We'll see how it all goes.

Yay!

(I don't write fiction, I'm just the cheering section.)

Thanks. I think I'm going to need it. I haven't written anything in a long, long time. That and I hate almost everything I write. I'll be lucky if I manage to get through the month without deleting everythign I've written at least once.

What will be your MO? Anti-social Kat, no TV, just slaving away in your messy room over a computer, the only light coming from the monitor and the small desk lamp you use to read piles of notes on sheets of yellow legal paper, a red dot glowing on top of your dresser where you keep the mini-Mr. Coffee to keep yourself going?
