On a lighter note, my favorite player's (Sergei Federov) little brother (Fedor Federov) made the cut for the the Canucks. Apparently, he has the skills to become a superstar. We'll see.
When I was in Vancouver last year, I got to watch Fedor play. He's not as skilled or flashy as his older brother, but he makes very few mistakes and plays like a real grinder. It'll be interesting to see what he does if he plays the full season.
And, speaking of little brothers, the Canucks also have Steve Kariya (Paul's little bro) on the roster; well, he's on the farm team right now, but when he was with the Canucks, he did a pretty good job. I wish they'd give him another chance.
Federov: Good kid, from what I've seen of him. He really came out of nowhere to surprise the Canucks this camp and won himself a place. He should prove himself quite well this season as a quality 2nd/3rd liner.
Kariya: Steve's a good kid. He just lacks his big brother's skills. He's not bad at all offensively, but he's a defensive nightmare. He'll get another shot someday though.
Fedor Federov. Wow. That's like being named David Davidson.
I hope he shapes up into something special--the fact he's not as flat-out brilliant as his brother implies he might develop a better &^@#$* work ethic. And that's all to the good.
