The other entry.
May. 4th, 2001 08:37 amNow for a non-movie related post.
Last night Jamie came over and it was cool to see him. I'd felt that we'd kind of drifted recently from one thing or another and the casual sort of conversation we had was very pleasant. he ripped my cover letter to little bits and that was good. He commented on my losing of weight. I'm still uncertain how to take compliments like that, so I just kind of go on and try not to blush. If anyone feels I don't thank them for compliments it's because I'm flustered and trying to be the least awkward I can manage. Apparently he and Holly harassed Kevin later, but I was at karate.
Karate on Thursdays is sooo coool. I had forgotten what it was like. Hui sempai is so awesome. I missed her. We went through the work out, after which I was tired, but not exhausted. Another student asked about the second kata, Chi-no kata, and I was also curious if I had it right. So we practiced that and then I hung out for awhile with them.
Hui Sempai looked at me and said, "When do you test for your orange belt. You should do that soon." I looked at her and said, "I've been here long enough. I'm just not on the list." She looks to Ken and says, "Get her on the list. She should be there." I giddily follow and get all the paperwork and practice receiving my certificate a few times.
Meanwhile, Hui Sempai has gone looking for boards and starts breaking them. She gets Oxana to try breaking one and says to me in an aside, "You could do this." I look at her, "Really? You think?" She nods, "Yeah. It's not that hard."
So.... A few moments later, I'm trying to break boards.
I'm sorry to say, I didn't break any, but I bent some. They were curved. I felt how I should have hit it for next time, too. My wrist is a little tender and I'm waiting for the bruises.
It was fun, though.
