The 'official' letter isn't that much better. It's just more polite about it.

Date: 2002-08-27 01:25 pm (UTC)Many of the people who "sounded off" on the MTV website were in the same narrow minded avenue as the show producers.
"It was probabally just that he was jealous, and his friends came and signed the petition." and other such tripe.
I think that once this all settles out, this show will either get really high or really low ratings, depending on if the negative publicity works as publicity, or if it works as a rallying cry towards boycott.
Some people just don't know when to shut up.

Date: 2002-08-27 01:27 pm (UTC)I never knew that "super-popular", "super-hot", AND "uncommonly beautiful" were all requirements to win a musical "artist of the year" award.
Sounds to me like the webmaster or other employee (probably a programmer or some other non-PR person) who first noticed this was a big fan of this Ashanti person, and was enraged to see his lust interest getting any negative attention.
I hate people like that. :P
