Thoughts and things.
Jul. 17th, 2008 10:48 am- There is a musing in my head about writers and how some of them write works that are good because they seem to get lost in the world as they see it in their minds while other writers are good because they refuse to get caught up in the sticky parts and are good at conveying the world so you can get lost in it without getting lost in it themselves. I must find a better way to talk about this. My current attempts are clunky at best.
- I still love The Dark Knight. Looking forward to seeing it again tomorrow.
- Comic Con is next week. That feels unreal some how. I will be a crazy monkey running around trying to see all of the things I want to see. It is impossible and I will reach some level of zen about it about this time next week.
- I still love my new hair.
- I am excited to meet Lys and Ivan in person as well as seeing Catie, Laura and Andy. There shall be talking and hanging and dinner and fun.
- Cons are an odd beast. I am still amazed that there are people who I consider to be famous who know who I am. Then again, they are just people like you and me, for the most part. Most of them are just people I would like to have a beer or coffee with and just chat about things. There are layers of famous, you know? While I am a geek and I appreciate that these people create things for me to be geeky about, I mostly find I just want to get to know them, talk about the world and people and everything. I'm always looking to share viewpoints with people who have different perspectives than mine. I want to know how people who aren't me work and why and how they do what they do. Alas, this is hard to do in five minute snippets. (And I have yet to figure out how to get over what to call people. I don't imagine that I know any of these people well enough to address them by first name but ma'am and sir seem impossibly formal. Curse you language!)
