(no subject)

Do you know how hard it is to find a plain black tie these days? Christ. You'd have thought I was asking someone to sell me paisley vinyl or a neon hot pink flashing sign or somethign the way some of these people looked at me. Once I started finding plain black ties they were for more than $100. Yeah. Right. So I finally found one. It has a bit of texture to it, but... Eh.

Then I had to remember how to tie a tie. I always forget how to tie a Windsor knot. So I went and asked my manager how and he showed me and then I remembered. The first time I learned how to tie a tie was from my dad over a phone. He was in port in .... somewhere in Asia and I had to wear a tie for the school spirit day the next day. It was Tie up Timberline day. ....... That story makes me very melancholy. I miss my dad.

Tonight. Men In Black II At the rich people's mall at 6:30. At least Marci and I will be there in suits. Come and join the fun.

I've heard it's not too good, but really I don't care. I want to laugh and smile and be amused. I think this will fit the bill. I'm starting to have heart paliptations. *I leave in a week. In a week I will be flying. Ack.*

You know what would have made Tara's death even more heart wrenching? There should have been a faint hint of "Under Your Spell" in the music.

Strangeness

I get two questions walking around in this tie. One from the people who know me and one from those who don't. "You're going to Men in Black, aren't you?" and "Do you have an interview today?" Of course the sunglasses help.

My friend Sarah and I met at the free table where she was looking at a kids movie. "We watched this last night. My 3 year old son didn't like it. He said there weren't enough monsters." We chuckled and she said, "You two would get along. He said to me this morning, "I want to wear black. Black makes me happy." He's three. What am I going to do with him?" Sarah used to be somewhat of a goth a few years ago, so it's mostly a a joke, but still.... Her kids are great from the stories I hear.

Meeting tonight...?

Well, for MIB II were planning on meeting around 5:30 for the 6:30 showing. If you need me to buy tickets for you since you might be late, let me know. Pacific Place is downtown Between Pike and Olive and 6th and 7th. The movie theater is on the top, the 4th floor.
