I like Nickleback. I like the song that they singer helped with for Spiderman, "Hero".

I honestly think this the best superhero song ever made. (I'm not counting productions for scores. The Superman theme by John Williams gets that, hands down, though it is followed by the Batman score closely.)

"Now that the world isn't ending
It's love that I'm sending to you
It isn't the love of a hero
And that's why I fear it won't do."

It's perfect for Spiderman. I am so impressed by this song. It's simple, but evocative. It's cliched, but I don't notice because of how the cliche is treated. It helps me remember why I love Spiderman and why I always did. That and the quips. He always had a good line, and not those typical ones either. Like the one in the movie about mommy and daddy needing to talk now. That was great.

Anyway. Enough of that for now.

Nickelback is awesome. I am really pissed off because just before I broke up with John, I bought him the Nickelback CD. Now he gets to keep it and I have to go buy it again. Either that, or get my new computer, borrow it from him and record it.

That's lame. I hate things like that.

I need to buy some CDs, but they're so expensive.

I know. That's why I am buying a new computer with a CD writer. I figure if I spend $1000 on a computer, I only have to record 66 CDs to make it worth my while... :) I could probably find 66 CDs I want to record. Plus I could make my own, which would be great. I used to love making tapes when I was younger - it will be like reliving my youth. :)

I make CDs for people like I used to make tapes, yeah. It isn't quite the same somehow. I still buy CDs even though I can make them, I just make sure that I want the whole album. I'll probably buy the Spiderman Soundtrack some day soon. Probably the Nickleback CD as well.

Well, you know my feelings about it. I, too, really like that song. Though my favorite bit is:

"And they say that a hero can save us.
I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
I'll hold onto the wings of the eagles.
Watch as they all fly away"

*nods* I just think the song fits Spiderman amazingly well. That song wraps up the sort of hero that he is amazingly well. It's not a happy song, either.

I don't know of many other heros who could have a Top 40 sort of song fit them.

No, it's not happy. Which is fitting, especially where it comes in the movie. I mean, he's giving up so much, to be a hero.

It's fairly deep, especially for a pop song.

*nods* Exactly. That, no matter how happy or quippy or anything else Spiderman is, he's self-sacrificing. In the end, he does get the girl, but it takes a lot of work. (In the comics anyway.)

I liked in the movie how at the end, Mary Jane seemed to just get it in the background. That was lovely.

I think she understood BEFORE then.... after all, there was the message left on her answering machine between Pete and Gobby.

I think she managed to understand WHY he was doing what he was doing... and who the Green Goblin had been.

Possibly. Either way around, it's good.

Oh, I could listen to that song all day. Another good one on the soundtrack is Black Lab's Learn to Crawl. I highly recommend it.
